I think every MMO gets it some point, where they offer so many days for returning players to get free if they so choose - think scroll of ressurection, has bioware got to that point yet? I'd like to try out some of the new changes but I don't want to pay for a "maybe" again.

They gave 30 days free in the 3rd? Month.
They gave away a free month back when 1.2 released. After that I don't believe so. As for the new changes you're talking about..I suggest you wait longer. >.> what they have now isn't different or engaging enough to be considered much of a change.
If I was BW, I would get things stable before worrying about those that have left. I would wager a good portion were those seeking a great PVP game, and others that actually deep down thought this would be like SWG.
Those that have left due to server imbalances might be tempted, but it doesnt do much good if the reason for their leaving still hasnt been corrected.
Get the servers cut to healthy population levels, then send out a round of trials to those that have left. Probably wont get a whole bunch back, but even 10% would be almost half of what SWG was holding at max.
Asking Devs to make AAA sandbox titles is like trying to get fine dining on a McDonalds dollar menu budget.
soon they go free to play to level 15. get a trial acount and see if you like it
They did that two months ago. I'd get a week of free play if I came back. I didn't take them up on it.

i guess you can expect the next free 30 days to returners in september/october - when they need to present the figure of "active players" to the next EA share holder report (just like it was for the last free playtime right before the last report).
Have been doing it for months already.
I have had the last 3 month of sub for free it runs out on the 18th and I shant be giving them any money to resub but no doubt there will be another free month after 1.3 which I won't take them up on even with whats coming the games just a really average SP game wrapped up in what vaguely resembles a Star Wars skin.
I expect they'll do a Scroll of Ressurection in the fairly near future after the server restructuring is finished. Sort of a "please come back, here are a few perks" type deal. Phat loot is a great motivational tool.
I didn't get a free month because I never got to 50.
My husband only had a couple of level 20's and 1 32 I think and still got a free month, heh.

they'll be doing "free reactivations" whenever they have to show sub numbers to shareholders. business as usual.
I wouldnt go back to that mish mash of what they try to call an MMO even if they paid me to, let alone a free period.
You did actually, they gave it out to everyone after the sub 50 players whined about it on the forums for a week.
