Said it was just crap and wasn't fun  when he played it at E3, the controls were sluggish, the shooting didn't feel right and the graphics sucked. He said there was no colour and it felt like another generic FPS and as a former EVE player he didn't even feel a connection to the EVE Universe, it didn't feel like EVE. Also he didn't understand why it was on the PS3 when the EVE audience is on the PC.

To be fair most  of the problems seem like they can be fixed by making it for PC instead. Once it fails on the PS3 and doesn't sell for shit, CCP will port it to the PC to try get money back and no one will care. So I hope sooner rather than later CCP ditch the PS3 version and make it a F2P game for the PC before this ruins them.

Almost every game that gets ported turns out to be bad no matter if its pc to console or vice versa.  I will never understand why they went the ps3 route with this project.

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

Me neither especially when the PS4 might be released in late 2013.

    Thats not very good!

If they end up porting the game to the PC, I hope no one buys it, because they basicly slapped everyone who was supporting Eve , and paying their salaries plus R&D into DUST is unacceptable to me in a HUGE way, in no way will I ever support a company who does that to their fans or clients for that matter, I would basicly say you can take that piece of shit and shove it so far up your A** so you can taste how lowsy of a product you have and for basicly telling your PC Clients " Hey thanks for the money guys now we can focus our new game into the hands of the PS3 owners so thank you and screw you, oh btw we are not releasing any new patches for awhile till DUST is done, so please keep supporting us because we really don't care about you" sorry for my rant but you get my drift.

Ported games, or even those designed for more than one platform always have issues. Cryptic originally designed their Champions Online title to run on an X-Box as well. As a result, the controls are such a pain to use. Key mappings change depending on what you're doing or what window is open. Calling it awkward would be very kind to it.

Pretty much all of my impressions about the game from simply watching the trailer. I'm surprised I was so spot on :]!

That's right CCP!!! Way to go!

Lets make a FPS and develop it for the PS3.

Lets completely ignore the fact that Eve players are on PC

Lets ignore all the suggestion posts of Eve evolving into Ground based Fps/Vehicle combat over planetary control.

Last I checked the 300-400k accounts that give CCP money are all on PC, The people that buy the books, the mechandise and goto your stupid fanfest are all on PC.

This game even if it was mediocre would have sold like hotcakes ON PC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont know who makes the decisions over there at CCP but not delivering this game to their PC customer base is pure stupidity!!!!!!!!!!

    ./rant over

    Playing: Nothing

    Looking forward to: Nothing

It is fairly stupid to release this on consoles.

A lot of people with a PS3/Xbox don't have internet connection to it (believe it or not, I know plenty), and that immediately means "no sale". Then when they ask what the EVE universe is, the answer will again mean "no sale".

They should have marketed this to EVE players, not people completely out of the loop. It will be a lesson for CCP, in time, surely. I doubt selling even 300k copies are going to make up for hte development time as well, it's not like they can ask for a monthly fee on top of the box price... so... yeah, herpa derpa derp.

Someone is going to take the fall for it too.

The fact that they are releasing on PS3 isn't the problem.  It's that they aren't releasing on PC first.  CCP is trying a money grab because for some reason, they believe that EvE has any draw in a market that doesn't know that they exist.  What idiot decided that exluding all of the gamers that basically created your MMO from playing DUST unless they have a PS3, was a good idea?

This is SV or AV level of a slap in the face of their customers.  I thought CCP was above the indie dilema of making dumb ass mistakes.  Apparently not.

  • nyxiumnyxium Member UncommonPosts: 1,345

I am concerned about CCP putting so much of their resources into DUST, if it turns into a stinker then with their already troubled past i.e. Monocle-gate, may have to tighten their belts even further resulting in painful implications for EVE Online and  WoD, both games whether paper based or computer based, I like.

The very idea to make this game was simply awful to begin with. Who are the brain trusts at the company who thought this was a good idea? Unbelievable... If this ever comes out it will be a laughing stock.

1st of all. the game is F2P, there is no box price. 2nd of all there are already lots of poeple on PS3 who are excited about dust so there is plenty of interest in the game. The game has already gotten all of the MAG community as well as a large portion of the Killzone and BF community onboard. There ARE a lot of people who are drawn to the persistance aspect of the game so as long as the shooter gameplay is solid the game will do fine.

As for the gameplay feeling slow I don't know if I agree with that. They are still making many tweaks to it and the game is far from feature complete. Plus once the game truly ties into EVE then it will feel more in the EVE universe.

I wish CCP would have made DUST 514 on PC just so people would actually talk about the game and not the fact that it's not for the system they want it to be on.

they are including M+K support for the ps3 so that when they release a pc version the console players will be able to compete on a level playing field.

The issue that I have with this game is that the skills in Dust train in real time. From what a friend of mine told me whether it was accurate or not will take total of 7 years to train. PS3 games dont have longevity like many pc games do. How many ppl are gonna play this game for more than 2 months let alone up to 7 years. Lets just hope it has CODMW long term play. I just dont see it.

7 years to train ALL the skills, not 7 years to complete a specialisation.

I think Dust will do fine.  Why?

Well its a sort of mmofps, and its for the PS3.  So that should do it.  I somehow think it cant compare to Planet Side 2.  Except as far as I know thats just on PC.

Besides Dust PS3 players wanting an mmofps feel have Mag (which I heard wasnt incredibly special) and maybe a few others.  I dont think Dust 514 will just dominate the PS3 FPS fans, but PS3 owners will dabble and many will probably play it regularly.  Only because the lack of other options.

Now if Planet Side 2 was on the PS3 along with Dust, well then.......Dust would be toast.  But one (as far as I know) is for PS3 and the other on PC so its two totally different platforms and they'll probably keep out of each others way in that fasion.

Me?  I have a PS3, and a decent PC.  So Im going to be messing around with Planet Side 2 for sure.  I love my PS3 but it wont play Planet Side 2.  So I'll be jumping back on my PC to play a FPS, which I havent done since......man.....Doom?  Crap has it been that long?  And no Im not talking Doom 3.  I said Doom.  Yea.....

    I'm calling troll tread.

Why: People have stated they want this game to fail because it wasn't made for a plateform they personally liked or had. Also Dust514 beta keys were all givin out before the beta news even hit the ps3 news list.

There are still people on PSHOME right now trying to get beta keys that have been gone for over a week now.

So while I love the doom and gloom. Everyone is forgeting a lot. Ps3 users can change thier language and region setting on thier email adress to download dust 514 from different regions just like US users did to play  monster hunter freeedom 2. Before unite came out with ad-hoc.

So I do not think this game is going to fail. I know you want it to but how can it? its just a free game that lets eve players controll planets. Don't troll just buy a ps3 and enjoy. Because if you dont there are 5 Asian people in dust514 beta event at pshome right now that want keys.

    This is not a game.

    I simply cannot understand.

    1) What is the life span of an console FPS? One year, perhaps two, or until the next Call Of Duty comes out.

    2) Who plays FPSes on a console? Kids and people who are new to gaming.

2b) Who plays FPSes with a console controller?

Given the above why would you then develop an FPS on a console that you want to link to your PC game?

Who are you target audience? You want Eve players to communicate with Dust players, no? Eve has big corps and alliances, they are experienced and seriuos gamers, who in the FPS world are similar? Definitely not console FPS players. Think FPS clans on the PC.

If I was at CCP and was tasked with making an FPS to link to Eve, I would immediately think of targeting all the dedicated FPS players on the PC, you know, the ones that buy hyper-sensitive mice and £30 mouse mats. The ones that will play a good FPS game for years and years. Already established FPS clans that play with purpose.

I would look at the success of PlanetSide and make Dust a similar but better experience, a squad based FPS with vehicles  as well as rpg elements of classes and skills etc,etc..

You got to wonder how CCP got this so wrong, were they enticed by perhaps the promise of big payout for producing a console game? If they produced an awesome squad based FPS with RPG elements then they could actually charge a sub for it as does Planetside or allow the payment of one sub that allows access to both Eve and Dust, thus bringing in more people to Eve and still make a buck at the same time.

CCP has dropped the ball on this one i am afraid.

I agree with all the negative responses to this, I have nothing more to say except if this were on PC and was a little less sluggish with more colour then perhaps it could have competed with planetside 2. Instead this will get drowned. Besides Playstation 4 in a year or so?

What exactly is bold about my statement? If you go to the dust514.org site you can see quite a large community that has been building since before the game was announced officially.

More people actually play fps's on console than pc

FPS Clans on PC are exactly the same as on Console, stop being elitist (I am a PC FPS player)

If I was at CCP and was tasked with making an FPS to link to Eve, I would immediately think of targeting all the dedicated FPS players on the PC, you know, the ones that buy hyper-sensitive mice and £30 mouse mats. They can still release on PC. I'm sure that's part of the reason they are including M + K support on PS3, for cross-platform play. And PC FPS players these days are just as fickle as console players when a new shooter comes along. The fact is that there has never been a FPS with the potential longevity as EVE besides maybe the original planetside because no FPS has had the same kind of persistance attached to it. So we really have nothing to compare it to.

I would look at the success of PlanetSide and make Dust a similar but better experience, a squad based FPS with vehicles  as well as rpg elements of classes and skills etc,etc..
