gajolmandgajolmand Member CommonPosts: 29

Sorry but i have been looking for the release date several times and i havent been able to find it yet. Everywhere i look it just says something along the lines "To be released 2012" or i find some old forum posts with people speculating.

I dont know if the release date has been announced yet but i would assume so since you can already pre-order the game?

So can someone please help out a very confused guy xD Also if you could tell me about the beta weekend things cus i cant figure anything out about GW2 at all it seems xD

    soon

LFD tools are great for cramming people into content, but quality > quantity.
I am, usually on the sandbox .. more "hardcore" side of things, but I also do just want to have fun. So lighten up already :)

Pre-purchase gives access to Beta weekends, which mostly happen once a month but are not limited to. These are 3 day events where you have access to the game, live, PvE and PvP (although not a finished product). Along with a 3 day headstart before official launch.

Pre-order does not give you access to Beta weekends, only a one day headstart.

As for the release date, nothing is certain yet. Check MMORPG news or the official GW2 website for updates.

As soon as they charge you for the pre-order... owait...

Well seeing that they most likely will not release after Christmas....T-minus 6 months! I'm betting on earlier than that with how well the BWE have gone and the mass of bug fixes, changes, updates that have occured after and during previous beta events (this is not to mention the closed beta that is going on every single day with a few thousand others for the upper levels). But either way, 6 months is not very long after waiting over 5 years :D

So wrong I pre ordered from Amazon and have gotten into all beta weekends and a 3 day head start, get your facts right.

Has there ever been a game in history where a more expedient way to discover the release date was to create an account on a general gaming forum to ask rather than just check the game's official website?

When there is a release date, you can bet it will be displayed in giant bold letters on the game's site.

This was explained in their reddit interview. Amazon was given special permission to allow people into beta weekends. They didn't specify if it got people into the 3 day vs 1 day headstart.

Korean thanksgiving is 30th of September this year. I expect to see GW2 by that time. I can't imagine ANet having like 4 or more BWEs. That would actually start killing the hype. Too long periods of teasing are counterproductive.

    Testing is not teasing =)

After all, this is one of the most productive Betas I've ever taken part of, differently for some that were just hype builders. Each test iteration brings new features, bug fixes and new content.

As fans, we should really just bite the bullet and understand that 'good' is seldom together with 'fast'.

BWEs are just as much testing events as marketing events made to spread the word about GW2 so more people pre-order it. I tough it was kind of obvious by now.

just the thing ANet said they might not show us all starter areas are proof of that. if they need testers so much why won't they show us at least all starter areas? yup b/c they use it as teasing too.

Annnd adding pre-purchase bonuses to pre-orders are yet another proof of that =P

Well, I can't say that I agree with that, but it's hard to reach a consensus without more info. So, to each his own.

There's multiple layers of testing. The BWEs are the final layer and more for the bigger public feedback and performance, balancing etc. when the masses are let loose on it and maybe catching some bugs that slipped through the other layers. Of course it's also used as a marketing tool, they would be silly to not do that as it has been pretty common in the genre. And a perk to the fans already sure about purchasing the game. But it's not the main purpose.

So far we only know two things about the release date.. "when it's ready" and "definitively 2012".

What can men do against such reckless hate?

And it's supposed to be the second half of 2012 according to a dev on Facebook

Well, first half of 2012 ends in 10 days, so I guess by now it's a given unless they pull an apple "and it's already in stores!!!" thing.. :)

I think theres a good chance another 2-3 months till release. But definitely sometime this year.

The blog was written before BWE2. It only got published now.

So there might be only one more BWE from now. Who knows, keep speculating.

But I know the release date anyway. Its: x.y.2012
