Gamestop employee leaked the release date to me... by accident.

So funny story,

 

I was at gamestop, and after pre-purchasing the game I asked the employee when I could come pick up my copy of the game.

I do believe the employee was new because he looked at his computer screen and said "August 28th 2012" and then his manager quickly told him he wasn't supposed to say that.

 

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

 

This is in Canada by the way, but I'm assuming its the date for North America.

 

August 28th BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

    I always trust the "new" guy, he probably told you the date of another game.

    He wasn't supposed to say it because NCSoft hasn't verified a date yet, GS is just guessing.

    Sounds legit. Ncsoft obviously tells vital information like that to lowly GameStop employees with complete trust

    Why would they get a date the isn't open to the public. Gamestop is full of shit as always. Retailers are given a list with dates if they have been announced, so there is no leak. Either it's open to the public or it's speculation.

    rofl gamestop/ebgames is great for knowning the release-date of titles... i went in there years ago asking about DoW 1 and they had no idea what the fk it was..

    so i wouldnt put much stalk in that date lolol

    since arenanet aint saying anithing yet i asume its inacurated  once anet put it on facebook the release date then we all know when its being release meanwhile its all inacurated  and false stadistic

    Yeah.....no. The only date you can trust is the one given to you by ANet or NCSoft (and even then I'd trust ANet more). The guy is either messing with you, or quoted the date for another game.

    To end all speculations on this topic, like..forever. It's a placeholder. It's needed in order to put a product in their system. Certain atributes needs to be added in order for the product to be registered, one of them being a release date.

     

    So stop it allready,,,

    When arenanet announce the release date, some of those people guessing will actually be right (because there's just so many of them). Then they will say "i always knew it" :)

    They said towards the end of the year, so personally I would expect it to release at a similar time to Mists of Pandaria WoW's new expansion Sep/Oct time.

    But thats just me :)

    im standing by my theory that its already been released and i just cant figure out how to install it ... far more likely than "some gs noob told me"

    LFD tools are great for cramming people into content, but quality > quantity.
    I am, usually on the sandbox .. more "hardcore" side of things, but I also do just want to have fun. So lighten up already :)

    I've never received false information from this person, unless like someone commented above me. that it's simply a "placeholder" date.

    Just as an FYI to you, Gamestop's shown at least three different placeholder dates for the game that I'm aware of. 

     

    Also, from their own website:

    That shows 12/31/12.

     

    Personally, I think both dates are BS. Let it go.

    It is, and he is not lying to you. He is reading exactly what it says. Several companies use the same software and one of the things that always gets frustrating is needing to fill out alot of fields that you don't actually have information about, just to get the product into your system

    there isnt a rock big enough to hide the plethorah of GAMESPOT SAYS threads

    LFD tools are great for cramming people into content, but quality > quantity.
    I am, usually on the sandbox .. more "hardcore" side of things, but I also do just want to have fun. So lighten up already :)

    Heh sorry if I got a touch overreactive. Just that this has to be about the 80,000th post claiming they know a release date. It's getting a little old. Also, as a rule, never trust a gamestop release date until  the developer themselves confirm it. This has happened with dozens of other games as well.
