Is GW2 going to release to the consoles?

How do you feel about GW2 potentially going on sale for the Xbox/PS/Wii?

Wouldn't be nice to be able to play GW2 on your huge TV while chilling out on your couch? It is extremely unlikely that if they choose to go for a console version it will release together with the PC version but maybe at a later date? GW2 is very action focused MMO and since it's limited to only 10 skills it can easily be played using a controller (I will be quite disappointed if the PC version doesn't have controller support :( ) No sub to top it up and I see no reason why console players wouldn't buy it.

    It will be for consoles.

Though I would guess it will be for new gen of consoles (PS4, new Xbox and very doubtfully but maybe for WiiU).

So if it will look for like 2+ years.

10 skills + 4 (the max) class mechanic + 1 weapon swap key = 15 buttons (depends on prof) are essential for regular play.

There is a very small team of developers already working on a console version but I doubt they will release it soon, or even finish it in the first place. There are many problems inherent to allowing console and PC gamers to play a game together.

Block the trolls, don't answer them, so we can remove the garbage from these forums

The WiiU will have the perfect controller for MMO´s tough...

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

True, but will be much weaker hardware wise than PS4,  new Xbox though.

    But who knows?

Guild Wars 2 doesn't look like very graphic intense game. There are some visually more advanced games which already run on the current generation of consoles. The game will most likely run without any problems on Wii U.

If FFXI can do it with the macro system I'm sure GW2 can figure out a way. I would never want to PvP with a controller but PvE could be relaxing on my couch.

  •  I don't think Anet really cares about the console market that much.

    BUT

GW2 could easily be put onto consoles and work well and there is ALOT of money to be made there.

    +2 for camera rotation + dodge button + up/down (swimming) = 20 buttons

... Honestly, I'd just hate to play on a (standard) controller with a game requiring that many different commands.

If they can easily do it, that would earn them a lot of money and they should. Console games sell much more than PC games anyway. I personally would prefer to play it on a console :D The only reason to have a desktop nowadays seem to be for games...(laptops are very cheap now and much more mobile).

I think you know the old saying "quality vs quantity".

Well, even though the graphics are not as advanced as some console games the WiiU, PS3 and 360 would not be able to handle the hundreds of players in one spot in the Mists or the major Events.

i can see easy the game release for ps4 or xbox720 (wiiU i doubt have the power for WvW)

GW2 on consoles must have dedicated servers otherwise players with gamepad will gonna be owned on sPvP against PC players

If ArenaNet wait for PS4/Xbox720, then the game will take ages to come to the consoles. The new Xbox/PS are rumoured to come out at the end of 2013 and since they were not announced at E3 this year, that seems like the earliest date they will be released.

Can ArenaNet actually start making a console version if the said consoles are not even out yet? So we will have to wait at least 1.5 years for the new consoles to come out and then another year for them to port the game?

I'd say that they should wait for next gen consoles and hopefully the consoles, especially xbox, support keyboard/mouse. I don't think there are enough buttons on a controller to play the game fluidly.
