Arenanet is using their blog to announce everything, but here is the time.

    Wednesday, June 27th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. PDT (GMT-7).

    EDT it is 1 p.m to 5 p.m

I still find it odd that ANet does stress tests during the week.

When Trion was stress testing Rift they held those sessions on Saturday's and passed out beta keys to pretty much anyone with an internet connection.

I would imagine that the BWE's had more concurrent connections than ANet could ever hope to get on a random Wednesday during a small window in the middle of the day.

Alot of Arenanets playerbase is from europe, and this stress test is set in EU prime time.

It's also prime time for the European crowd, and with them running the last BWEs end event they'll be concentrating people into a zone. It's a targetted stress test for those servers.

    Oderint, dum metuant.

I think this is because the first stress test showed that some of us Europeans were lagging badly.  So they picked a time suitable for us but not for the USA. The problem is.. during the stress test is the match Portugal vs Spain.

That means there won't be as many of us participating as they would like.

They should have done it today. Thursday would have been worse as Germany is playing and GW's biggest fanbase is from Germany

Seeing as every bit of official information comes from the gw2 website, I'd say it's anything but useless.  The exact info the poster below yours posted came from the gw2 website.

Not a lot of gamers actually fall into the typical stereotype.

How many gamers are interested in football?

Quite a few, especially in those 4 countries remaining in the competition.

Yea, this appears to be a European stress test to see how the servers there are handling everything before the next beta weekend.

They also use Twitter to make announcements with links back to their blog. I use Google Reader to watch their twitter feed.

    In Europe many.

I will be watching the match, and I am not even from Portugal or Spain.

It's the Euro Cup, it is once every 4 years, GW2 can wait.

Anyway I agree it is a funny schedule from Anet, even if it was targeted to Europeans, why exclude  the US alltogether?

I though that during a stress test, the more the merrier.

But what i dont understand why only 4 hours if your going to do a beta make it at least 12.

If they really want to test the EU servers, tell the US players to create new toons on the EU servers and we will do our best to bring them down.  :)

The key is on the definition........

It is a "Stress Test" not a Beta event.

They want the highest amount of people logging at the same time, that's why it is only 4 hours.

Absolutely. Hmm and come to think of the original question of how many gamers want to see the championship..

All my mates that will play GW2 with me, are watching.

In fact lately I have only been playing a little social online game and I was watching the matches along with a friend from Portugal, a girl from Estonia, a woman from Greece (which was funny watching the game of Germany vs Greece with her >I'm German< ) and of course and endless amount of people from the UK during England's last match.

It was kinda like public viewing online in an mmo.

Just a guess, but it's pretty likely they have some software capable of placing an artificially high load on server resources for testing purposes. It would be much harder to make software capable of mimicing the behaviors of thousands of players simultaneously. In that case the stress test would be effective for gathering data without needing the maximum possible players, just ramp up the artificial load simulator and data-mine from the several thousand people likely to play no matter what time or day it happens to be.
