Trond Arne Ass resigns day before TSW launch!

Agricola1Agricola1 Member UncommonPosts: 4,977

Looks like the CEO for FC has stepped down at the launch, like I said before this is all Deja vu. It's AoC all over again except on an accelerated timeline, CEO quits to start a new project and leaves players hanging!

If this game was so **** hot and set to do so well, why on Earth would the CEO step down at the launch to start on a new MMORPG?

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"

Funcoms eagerly awaited MMO, The Secret World, officially released today opening up a modern-day world filled with dark conspiracy, fable, and urban legends for players to explore.

In a surprising event, however, Funcom CEO Trond Arne Aas has stepped down from his role. He will remain with the company as a strategic advisor to the board of directors as well as chief strategy officer.

According to GameSpot, Aas will be "actively working" on Funcom's recently announced LEGO MMO game. Aas' role as CEO will be filled by the company's current COO, Ole Schreiner.

"The company's financial position is strong and the foundation of the company's long-term product and technology strategy is in place," Aas said. "It feels like a very natural point in time for me to make the transition to a new and freer role in the company, but I will remain committed to the Company both as a major shareholder and as an employee."

Wow.  Neat trick.  Didn't know our asses could resign.   I guess I had better watch where I sit or I could be out of a job.

Wait.  They had a donkey working for them.  Man that explains the facial models.

What CEO resigned for AoC... and what do the CEO has to do with game development?

5 out of 10 in the attempt.  Some might fall for it.

lol ... I knew this would have happened ... judging by all the "like" levels in many of the third party marketing sites, it ain't that great.  Especially, on Amazon its like "123 likes" atm.  Look at GW2's likes, its in the "thousands".  Not to mention, the TSW main forum site has lately been deseparately sticky-ing all the past good commentary threads from their followers as an use of marketing strategy.  It's rather pathetic I say.  They have tried any ways necessary to delete away or close threads that turns their game down while, it's the actual truth.  They have claimed many allegations like flaming and this and that when there isn't any but a good review of truths on the game.  If they couldn't find a good allegation, they just simply removed it for no reason.

To the followers:  You said the game would be bug free on launch ???!   Think again, there's still reports on it.  I mean how can a fixed claimed quest in the beta like 'The Black House Tier 3/4' be bugged again and how can a working quest in the beta like the quest when die to follow a bird be bugged.  Let me remind you guys again, shotgun was not bugged at all for 3 betas and is bugged on beta 4.   ???!  Really??!  Does the company know what's it doing even?  Does the coders have enough human capital to be employed in making the game.  So many questions unanswered.

O btw PLEASE DO NOT BUY ON FUNCOM SITE, there's NO REFUNDS.  Those WHO GOT SCREWED INTO BUYING LIFETIME, will try to GET YOU INTO BEING SCREWED AS WELL SO YOU CAN PLAY WITH THEM!

Much to do about nothing.  People leave their jobs for a variety of reasons and he will still be involved with Funcom.

It'll be gone soon as long as it sticks on the top as a hot topic, but if it dies out, the forum moderators won't care.

If you bothered to read why he moved to an advisory role, you wouldn't have bothered to post this.

Heh, nice thread.  And they say that GW2 fans are rabid defenders of the crown.  They descended on the OP like wolves on a fresh carcass.  F***ing hypocrites.
