That's actually a really cool effect! Glad that Anet have put some nice attention to the little details throughout the game.

This makes me wonder what will happen to the back slot items on our characters. Right now the only back item I saw was the engineer backpack which has cloth sacks, a shovel, and a little cloth that move as the character moves. There was a lot of detail just on that bag, but now I'm curious would happen to the bag or maybe future back slot items such as capes if spells like the one in the video are used next to characters that have back slot items equipped.
this is one of the things i noticed and really appreciated about the game in the BWEs.
they seemed to pay special attention to making sure there was a feeling of air or atmosphere all around. i took several screenshots of all the dandelions blowing in the wind and how beautiful it was that really didn't translate well to a still image.
its just one of those little things that you have to see to understand, but i never felt like i was running through a lifeless moon like in so many games.
Thats what I love about GW2, they really paid attention to detail with this one.
Its been so long since I bothered to look around in a MMO, I usually just pick up the quests and turn them in, rinse repeat. Other than the PvP of course.
Oh, the little things I miss when being too engrosed in the world and what I am doing. Very good attention to detail, thanks for the post and the video
I've seen more of this kind of details when playing the game. Small examples:
shadow of a waving flag on the ground, where the shadow waves 100% according to the flag
fireplace flickering on the wall seen from afar, while the filreplace is blocked by LON
as the movie shows - seen the movement of grass when you move through it?
Man, I really love the amount of attention ANet has put into the game!
I think I saw my character's armor look wet-looking for a few seconds after exiting water, but he was in shiny metal armor, I was in a WvW battle, and I didn't investigate it more. Now it has been bugging me since last time I played beta. I must know if it is true! Does water make people wet? That beta weekend doesn't come fast enough!

Yes it does, once you get out of the water, for a short while you will look wet
Edit: The BWE is still far away so I can't be 100% sure about, but I'm quite positive there IS a change

Some of the stuff you see going on and what you can learn from the npcs in this game is amazing, man these npcs are up to snuff on the latest greatest happenings in the area and even abroad and can often tip you off to things that are happening or could be happening soon..
Its the little things that anet did right and the attention to detail that sets up this games awesome atmosphere and lush organic ambience..
Thank for this video, it's certainly amazing. In the end it shows an NPC Tour Guide. When I first found this NPC in beta, I was like What?! He actually walked with me and showed me the whole district with voice over. Amazing!

I like that.

NO TIME. CENTAURS ATTACKING AGAIN.
Play for fun. Play to win. Play for perfection. Play with friends. Play in another world. Why do you play?
I ran away from a centaur once. He complemented on how good I was at running away.

There's a video about more of the little things that make Guild Wars 2 special.
But but but... GW2 is only DX9, it's NOT possible that it looks good!
(/sarcasm)
Very nice video - the game is full of such details, and that's a big part of what makes the GW2 world feel alive.
