Game Set in 16-18th Century? (or Other Historical MMO)

potacopotaco Member Posts: 82

Here's a kind of weird one... Does anyone know of any games set  in the 16th-18th centuries (Shakespeare, Mozart, etc)? It seems like there are lots of medieval games and futuristic games, but not much inbetween. I'm looking for something...

- Semi-historical... so not a cheesy, twitchy FPS like Renaissance Heroes

- MMO would be preferred, then multiplayer, then single-player

- RPGish would be infinitely preferred to RTS/FPS... so probably not like Europa Universalis

- Uncharted Waters Online is OK (and Pirates of the Burning Sea is a little further behind that), but both seem more focused on the piracy/water combat, so you don't get a real feel for the time period

Any other ideas?

Hm, never looked into that before... Looks like another Eastern-style, Pirate-heavy game. I'm actually looking for something a little less fantastical and a little more historical.

    Thanks for the suggestion, though!

Check out Mount & Blade: Warband: Napoleonic Wars. Not an MMO, but multiplayer only.

PotBS is largely about ship combat (and most of the rest is awful land combat), but UWO isn't primarily about combat at all.  It's very open-ended, so if you want to spend most of your time exploring, you can.  Or if you want to spend most of your time crafting and trading, you can.  Or quite a few other things.  And yes, there is both land combat and ship combat.  But that's mostly optional, just like everything else in the game.
