What are your feelings/expectations regarding Guild Wars 2 "End Game" or "Longevity" for that matter? From activities to do from start to finish, to different game goals or self imposed/guild imposed objectives.

Also,

What are your feelings/expectations towards the "Journey" if it has a proeminent one.

And the time (in hours/days of consecutive play) you expect to invest before reaching meaningfull progression thresholds in the game, short term, mid term, long term.

If one are going to buy this and invest some time into it, one would like to know the answers to those questions above.

So far I really love the journey, the PvE is extremely satisying to me.

But ultimately, my end game is WvWvW. I already know from Camelot that I can do that for 4+ years and not get tired or bored. This games WvW reminds me of Camelot more than any other mmorpg out there.

So I guess my plan is to enjoy the journey and explore this world that seem to really enjoy so far, and then plant myself in the mists and enjoy that for years to come.

So for me it should have staying power, but I wont know for sure until I get there :)

Currently I'm almost overwhelmed with the amount of time it's going to take me to accomplish everything I wish to accomplish just within the content available upon release.  I feel like fully progressing just my main character will take months upon months between leveling to 80, pursuing the gear sets I want, working towards a legendary weapon post level 80 which may entail playing at least another 100 levels worth of content on that character, leveling up several crafts and doing tons of Spvp and WvW pvp in between.

In addition to that one measely character, there are 5 classes I really want to play, and I do wish to try each race once.  Factor in different leveling areas for each race and varied DEs throughout each leveling process, and it's going to take me a very long time to play through this initial part of the game.  By that time, an expansion should be upon us as well as dozens of smaller patches in between.

As far as longeviity goes, try this on for size: none of this game's content will ever become obsolete.

In terms of a game like WoW (since it's a common denominator that many players can relate to), 8 years later, every vanilla, BC, and WotlK dungeon, quest, and raid will still be relevant and played frequently by new players and veterans alike.  Ever get that sense of nostalgia where you wanted to go back and play old content?  It usually lasts for an hour or so until you faceroll through the entire raid and earn your irrelevant loot.

That won't be the case in GW2.

You will always earn stuff that's relevant to your current character and they will always be challenging.  As the game ages, the content grows tremendously, unlike the standard MMO where the content amount remains about the same throughout its existence because all older content becomes obsolete with each expansion.

With the huge world, hidden nuggets, down scaling to content...I must say that I will be busy for a long time. Forgot to mention pvp. This game has it all.

The worst thing about gw2 is that we have to wait another month to play for real.
