Intersting .. from what they showed I'm sort of disapppointed it didnt have Aion+ proportions, with regard to a couple dozen facial features.

From the Korean options seen, you can see much more than most MMO's though (with regard to character formation) .. just not quite as much as others.  Sad face.

On another note, hair styles are once again fixed .. select from X hairstyles.  If you want a different one, write a letter... (why are hair styles so elusive to developers?)

Even with my dissatification with this video, I still would like this game.  It's only a smidgeon less than my idea game, .. which is still way ahead of the competition.  Hope that makes sense.

    This game will be good.

    :-)

It's nothing short of AMAZING!! So jealous of beta testers... :(

    Pretty decent.

I was suprised by the western facial features available. The characters still all looked like they poo rainbow drops though. The less Asiany this game becomes, the more hyped I'll be.

After watching the video I was thinking the same as you: the other 4 races...

I don't think we'll get all... I mean.. it's in the 5th beta and after this one it'll go open beta. I wonder how the other 4 races will be implemented in such a lil time (assuming all the work for their implementation and the mid-time between CBT5 and OB) and why would they go through no or little testing... any ideas?

    --

The video is nice. I liked the new customization options but am I the only one seeing the chars "plastic-like"? The details were raised, but they look like plastic dolls now :S

Awesome stuff. I am so happy I got invited into the beta! Make sure you check your junk mail just in case. Also log in to the official ArcheAge website to see if your Icon has changed. The number 5 should be lit green and you should have a Green T Icon next to your name or avatar.

    Good Luck!

As much as i want to play AA, i dont want anything to do with any betas. I want to play the game for the first time from launch and not pre prapare myself for the game. Everyones goin to come running out the gate, racing to max lvl. Im goin to take my time with this one and savor my time in AA.

Leveling in AA is linear and grindy. You go from one quest hub to another collecting kill x and collect y quests along the way. It's a typical themepark leveling experience. So yeah... people may want to rush to max level. Only the third continent is a sandbox.

It's not linear at all, there are multiple zones to lvl up on different level ranges.

Plus it's a sandbox so who the hell is going to grind quests when you can join a group, hunt open world bosses and pvp with other guilds in open world dungeons?

Have you played AA? or you are just spreading misinformation and hate?

I read that quests only exist in lower levels to get a hold on what is going on.  After mid-level they drop off.

2 of 4 continents are dedicated to pre-existing content with regards to factions and towns/guard to protect the citizens.  The 3rd one is for Outlaws (those who want to PKill and Psteal) and the 4th is a highly contested sandbox, without any static content, other than the dimensions of the continent.  All 4 continents are very large.

But on Yogscast, all continents are sandbox, with changeable landscapes (they did videos on CBT4 for media reps).  Portions of 2 of the 4 continents are not modifyable by the community because they are dedicated and fixed city / noob areas.  But you can still build on them.

The whole game is mostly sandbox, with construction and player communities driving the theme.  It's broken up into different difficulty levels (2 continents are easy mode with regard to PVP, 1 continent is moderate with regard to PVP, and the 4th continent is hardcore PVP mode).  Land is likely to change hands continually on the 4th continent .. anyone can live there .. but they must abide by the owners rules, or become an enemy and be decimated).  If over-taxed, they might band together and wage war on the current territory ruler.. stuff like that.

Misinformation and hate? I've been a semi active member of AAsourcesite for years. This is the one game I want to play above all others currently on my radar.

However, obtaining max level in CBT4 consisted of grinding kill and collection quests all the way to about level 40 (not only starter zones). At which point XLGames didn't have end game quests implemented and so people grinded the last 10 or so levels. The best gear also comes from quests until you can begin crafting. Crafting is a grind and something you cannot power level due to the limitations on labor points. You will NEED to quest. Players will be chaperoned from zone to zone on the first two continents through quests. Quests that are almost exclusively kill and collect. It is linear and grindy. I know that sucks but it is what it is. AA has plenty of other amazing features that I'm willing to overlook this since leveling is a small portion of play time.

What open world dungeons are you talking about? That's misinformation. There were open world dungeons of sorts but no bosses or anything like that inside. Just garden variety mobs. There are also open world bosses but this isn't like Tera BAM's. Its not a viable way to level. They're mostly for acquiring materials needed to build ships and castles. There will also be instanced dungeons. They were in CBT3 and are being brought back for CBT5.

Yes, you can build a house on the first two continents, but the areas you can build in are predetermined. You cannot build anywhere you like. This is reservered for the 3rd continent.

Gamers need to understand AA isn't a sandbox. It's a hybrid. There are many features that you will find in your typical themepark. Jake Song said as much and it is intended. I only say this because I don't want people expecting a full sandbox experience only to find something else and then go around flaming the game.

Even if all you say is true, this is still the closest to a AAA sandbox that gamers will get anytime soon.  When quests drop off it's up to the player to find new ways to level.  If someone was gung-ho about killing mobs, that's one way.

Were you a beta tester?  I'm not asserting ambiguity or disservice to your response, but it doesn't jive with others who claim to be in the know.  This is likely a problem with a foreign games with limited reveals.  Too many folks in the know ... I go by what I've seen in videos and what videos I can understand languages spoken, while they play.  This is what I go on.

This game is a hybrid, to that I will not argue.  But endgame is a sandbox, which is what most care about anyways.

edit: The font / bold was messed up.  Portions were singled out needlessly, it's an edit issue with MMORPG.com.  just read it as normal without any stress on certain parts.

definitely excited about this game .. but more elves? really? 2 elven races (yes yes 1 of them has cat ears .. yadda yadda) and no dwarves or gnomes? really though I thought by now we would have more races from new AAA mmos, not less.

not a deal breaker .. but .. variety helps.

LFD tools are great for cramming people into content, but quality > quantity.
I am, usually on the sandbox .. more "hardcore" side of things, but I also do just want to have fun. So lighten up already :)

There are supposed to be Dwarves and what looks like a fairy race. Also a big monster looking race.

Everything I typed is true as of CBT4. Obviously everything is subject to change. But expect typical themepark quest hub leveling to be a players journey to max level. I don't see this changing.

I agree, there is so many reasons for sanbox players to be excited about AA. It's going to be a blast and continues to impress with every new feature released. I just didn't want people to have the impression that there still won't be themepark elements.

If SWTOR had thse sandbox elements at endgame it wouldn't be tanking right now :)  ... SWG widely known for sandbox endgame converted to SWTOR .. 2.5 mil boxes sold .. 1.7 Million players March 2012 .. --> 500k players June 2012  ... --> Sept? lol

Sandbox from the very start is discouraging to new players, but this is a design decision.  I think most would be OK with themepark to master controls of the game, and then do sandbox at end level.  End level in all MMORPG's now is just gear grind / rep / vertical progression - all of which has that "did this before", "bored" feeling.

This game will be the cats meow [I really hope] =)
