MMO

Hello,

I've now left Runes of Magic (short story: a bug made me lose all my money and gear) and am now looking for another MMORPG. Preferably Fantasy, but hey! Open to suggestions.

PREREQUISITES:

-If fantasy, must have elf as playable race.

-It cannot be one of the following MMO's (already played, didn't like):

.LOTRO

.LoL

.Pirates of the Carribean Online

.WoW

That's all.

Tera? Or just wait for GW2? Oh wait GW2 doesn't have elves-

your requirement that elves must exist really limits you, as some developers sometimes like to create their own unique lore and races.

since you seem to not mind playing old and busted games:  have you tried the greatest old and busted MMO yet.. ultima online?

Vanguard's going Free to Play and it's got High Elves, Wood Elves, Dark Elves and Half Elves... Maybe you should give that a try.

Try posting here for better results:

Although a  mod might move this post anyways.

SoE has a large amount of now F2P options which are fantasy and include elves.

    Check out:

    EQ

    EQ2

    Vanguard

All of these are F2P for basic play (not sure if Elf is playable without $ though), but free enough so you can try them and see if you life them before putting $ down.

    I would say check out.

    EQ1

    EQ2

    DDO

    Forsaken World

    Shayia

    4 Story

    Aion

    Lineage 2

Oh and Vangaurd will be F2P soon.

These all have the Elf race except maybe 4 Story there are alot more I could list but this is off the top of my head.

FFXI: it's still chugging around and has several expansions out! The game is now soloable ever since the Abessea release.

FFXIV: It's not in 2.0 yet but is a good game so far. Lead Programmer Nakoi Yoshida has publicly apologized to players and fans and started to rebuild from the ground up! servers aren't like those in WoW with all the bad chuck norris jokes! You can build a class as long as you don't take a specific Job class like monk, white mage, and ect.

Aion: not my type of game but may suit you.

    Terra: Same as the above.

Below is where we can disscuss and come up with new ideas for Sandparks!

Otherwise I look the like of Pirates of the Burning sea. Anyone tried?

Aion looks good! I'll look into it. Otherwise, bar the elf prerequisite thing. Oh and I forgot to say, F2P is a criteria.

Surprised no one suggested Eve Online yet. Just a warning, given what you mentioned you tried it sounds like you may not have tried Eve, and it will completely turn all of your expectations of an MMO inside out (and at least initially kick your ass to boot), but you can get into some seriously badass stuff if you're tough enough. Here's a video that I quite like demonstrating some of the potential gameplay:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ld-zq0i6HKw&feature=bf_prev&list=PL59240C53111F5015

One main note, it's meant a bit like an instructional video from the poster and he gives a lot of information in the beginning to an almost blank screen. The main action doesn't start until around 07:23, so if you just want to see pretty lights, explosions and sounds skip to there.

    Where's the any key?

    Lineage 2.

Has dark and light elves (with more or less physics, respectively), and is free to play with cash shop. Cash shop isn't bad either, there's nothing you'll need for the first 72 levels (how far I got) at least.

"top view"??? What are you talking about? You can orient the camera in any direction you feel like.
