I'm going to go with strategic decision rather than fear (lol, fear, you actually think they're afraid of other titles?) to push out Mists talent changes early. They've done this for all expansions that had drastic talent changes.
This is nothing new, they've pushed out a big update usually around one month before an expansion. Been doing it since Burning Crusade.
I think people forget that GW2 isn't going to have a subscription. So it's completely viable to play both WoW and GW2. So it will have little effect on WoW, not to mention that WoW could lose over 90% of thier subscriptions and still be the most subscribed to MMO on the market still hehe :S
