Hi, I'm not 100% sure about this, but this is a known problem with NVIDIA graphics cards.  They usually release a new update on drivers for major releases such as GW2.  The update was either released today or early next week, I think.  To make sure, I would head to guildwars2guru.com and head to the technical forum there.  I was browsing and saw this same problem brought up there, and I can't exactly remember the response.

What is wrong with that fps? It is more than playable at 30fps, you should feel happy! :) You don't get extra gear or anything because your fps is a high score. o.O hehe

You may need to do some driver updates. I had to use a beta driver that ArenaNet suggested from the login screen. v304.79 It may get you some more!

edit: also make sure vsync is turned off.

Aerowyn and I have GTX 670s and here is the settings she told me to use. I got a just over 100fps in the norn area yesterday on Best Appearnace; And I got an awesome 2 handed sword for getting over 100fps! j/k

first start with best appearance in the slider
don't use supersampling it's not with it just leave that setting at default.
only things I change are take Reflections to Terrain & Sky from All
Take shadows from Ultra to High, then i turn OFF post processing if you like the bloom effect you can leave it on but I don't care for it. That's about it you should be able to leave everything else at max with no issues.

I do know that the newest driver(at least I think its the newest) was doing worse than older drivers so perhaps they will give a fix soon.

edit: ty Krimzin below me thats the info I so horribly was trying to give you =D

    Do not use 301.42.

Go into the beta section and get latest.

    304.something.

The 690 is not yet the most optimised. But it wil be soon.

not sure how anyone can say with that setup that 30 frames per a second is acceptable. I get double that with two 6950s and a oc 6100fx. You either have a driver issue or its just not optimized yet for your card. Not sure which ive always stuck to ATI myself . I know that a lot of issues stem from drivers not installing exactly right and with ati at least sometimes you have to install the driver sets a couple of times and use driver sweeper to finally get it to install right. ATI is notorious for releasing buggy drivers then fixing them later. Im pretty sure nvidia is no different.

If you are using the latest nvidia offical drivers then I can understand your low fps, they are bugged, try the beta ones.

I have the beta ones and I have a smooth ride.

The thing with the offical drivers is that your card go to idle speed hence you lose shitload of fps, that's the bug.

    The two beta drivers are.

    304.48 it works well

305.67 are the ones that i think will be the offical GW2 drivers, they are more optimized for GW2.

Don't forget to do a clean driver install, use drive sweeper.

If it's not broken, you are not innovating.

What they are saying is that 30FPS is good enough.  You naturally jerked with "that setup".

I've had a decent performance increase with 305.67. OP, might want to try to do a clean install with those.

using the 670 myself and can hit 100-130 fps in most places(although i use a limiter to cap at 60) and id highly suggest going with the 305.67 drivers and make sure vsync is off

I gained a significant FPS boost by using the 304.79 driver on my gtx460. I was getting better frame rates than you on my crappy PC. :) It's amazing what a difference a driver change can make.

Aerowyn is the graphic card queen. Those are her suggestions and it helped my fps quite a bit. She could answer you much better than me! :)

I went from mid to high 50s to low 50s with supersampling, but I thought it made it look better.  I might just be delusional!  I can't see the difference between 30 and 60 fps, so less than 10 is acceptable to me, especialyl if graphics look better .xD

The 305.67 drivers are what I've been using and my FPS was about 40% lower on the most recent stress test than it was on the last 4 hour stress test, using the same drivers. I'm using a GTX570.

Other than both having an NVidia card, my system seems to have nothing in common with the OP, so it doesn't seem to be processor, processor brand, chipset, etc... You and others are proof it isn't a universal NVidia problem either.

I did a clean re-install of the 305.67 drivers last night. I made sure the driver was set to let the 3D application decide settings.

I'm just tossing this in here to note that switching to the 305.67 drivers is not a guaranteed fix.

Aerowyn, could you post all your NVidia Global Settings and note anything that may be set different under the GW2 profile? I'd like to see if any settings there might have something to do with this.

the difference between default and supersampling to me is very subtle.. for me I judge how well a game runs if I can spin the camera in 360 degrees over and over in differn't spots without any stutter or framerate spikes.. doing this gives me smooth play pretty much anywhere.. I find with supersampling I get hitches when doing this and more frequent FPS spikes.. this is why I say supersampling is not worth it IMHO

I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg

it really depends on the card some seem to run better on 304 series some better on 305.. only way to tell what works best for anyone is try both and test it out:)

It is pretty subtle, but on the other hand, I hvaen't spent a lot of time spinning the camera 360 degrees repeatedly, so I hadn't noticed any hitching. :D

... and I literally can't tell the difference between 58 fps and 52 fps, but I did seem to notice some texturing improvements with the supersampling.

I'll try the spinny thing, now I'm curious. :)

301.42 was locking up on me also in GW2, and once it did it was like that in every game until I do a restart. Wracked my brains with video adjustments with no luck. First time I've had a graphics issue since I built the box about a year ago.  I've installed the nvidia beta driver 304.79 hopfully at head start it helps.

I always feel that these type of posts are trolls, if you got a flagship card you should atlest be aware that you run into different problems than affordable cards.

Anyways, dual gpu cards will usually run into driver problems with new games. You can change your settings with the SLI configuration since new games aren't usually optimized for it.

I'd monitor performance with either MSI afterburner or NVIDIA precision, check GPU useage and Temps when you are playing the game. I doubt it's bottlenecking on the CPU.

What mobo and psu are you using? from the Crysis and the BF3 fps that you're getting, it really just seems that you need to wait for a driver update, if not try out older drivers and see if anything changes.

I disagree about the troll comment, usually I find technical issues with pcs on forums from fellow gamers to be more helpful then the manufacturer site. Of course like any forum weeding through the bs is expected.

nVidia is releasing new drivers next week to specifically address GW2 issues. The game is also still not fully optimized and is very cpu dependent, pretty much no-one is getting 60+ fps in big fights.

Your current drivers, 301.42, have an issue with GW2 that causes a roughly 30% performance loss. Upgrade to 304.79 beta for a sizeable fps boost.
