I am somewhat confused. I have went to stratics, vault, the official page and here and each one has a different set of races listed. Dryads were even listed on one. Are these the 'official' races that will be in the game?
I wouldn't put too much thought into what stratics has to say about it as they don't even list all the races that the Horizon's website does, mainly because they have to worry about a large number of MMORPGs and well... Horizon's just has to worry about one. But it does look like there will be different types of elves and they damn well better as well!!! I was a Dark Elf Rogue in EQ, and man once you go inkie theres no turning back...

nope the Saris aren't but the Sslik are all A sexual Lizards =P. and as far as the Dryads i don't think they made it in. check my poll so far i think those are the only races that will be in the game at release. And yeah i wouldn't put to much stock in the Stratics Web page for the reasons already posted. Your best bet is the Horizons Home page.
I take offense to all this Saris bashing, I myself am a furre. Although there are no other furre types like canines and the like, I've always wanted to a cat-like creature in a MMORPG. Unfortunately for me, my EQ addiction died before that one moon expansion. I always wanted those nomadic cat people that were by umm.. that one Freeport I think place, it was on the way from it. I always used to go there and fish, it was just so nice there ^.^ Anyway, I plan to be a Saris, but remember, Dragons will be very weak in the beginning so don't expect to live very long and besides, it's not like you have any use for your cash, I'm coming to get it. XD
I've seen the contest btw, man... that's scary. I'm gonna check my email every 30 minutes, I know I won't get in it, but there's still that chance I might and I don't wanna lose to a person because I was too busy getting a life. *ramble off* Anyway... go furry!!
As a D&D and Rifts player of some years, I have watched very, very avidly as this game has made its way to retail. I play a Crystal Dragon in Rifts and fully intend to be among the Ancient's in Horizons. Kudos to development and marketing for keeping this race alive, I can't wait for the game to ship!

Just the idea of playing a dragon is very appealing. I'd imagine that that would be the toughest to play, but that's a great challenge. The Fiend race looks pretty interesting as well. Is that the compromise they've made in not pursuing the angel/demon races planned originally?
Hmmm... I might need to be a Saris too. The shots on the istaria (www.istaria.com) site make that race look pretty cool too. Guess I'll just have to try them all. Except maybe the female dwarves...just not doing it for me from what i've seen :O

In my opinion humans offer the best role playing experience as it's easier to relate. Of course Elves, and gnomes would offer a similar experience I just prefer humans as standard as they may be.
The real challenge will be trying to role play the Dragons and Ssliks as it will be harder to relate to their cultures, ideas, etc. Given it will be a welcome challenge . I just hope that that the role playing will be better on Horizons than on certain other MMORPGs that shall remain nameless.

Though dragons have always been my fave mythical creature, I think it's going to be very tough to be one, not to mention very lonesome and isolating as they aren't social creatures.

I think foraging is going to be part of the crafting system. it's supposed to be pretty detailed in general so i'm sure that foraging will be included in the tradeskills in some way.
I dunno about fighting monsters in EQ, but foraging was way fun for me. I mean, it was a MAJOR food saver. It saved me tons of money and besides, you'd get special items and you could sell the food and generally be helpful. =^.^=

just bind it to a hot button like the one that's compass and let your skills go up, man, I was totally addicted to foraging, that's what the first thing I'd be looking forward to in a level up is that I'd be able to be more successful.

I really dont care to play a dragon myself. I will probably be a human or an elf or just maybe a fiend if I am feeling wicked.
I would be a dark elf but it doesnt sound like they are really a race in this game, more just a skin color choice for elves.
