What is your favorite GW2 Profession so far?

EvelknievelEvelknievel Member UncommonPosts: 2,964

I thought I would love the Ranger since it reminded me of the Huntard in WoW, however I rerolled and went Human Engineer and loving the profession. As stated in another post, I am only level 24 but enjoying my time so far in GW2 despite the bugs that were in it when I started the game on August 29th.

So what do you think about your profession of choice and why you like it?

I went Ranger with an Eng alt atm .. I normally play melee/tank classes in MMO's but something just didn't feel right to me about the Guardian/Warrior

So I went Ranger and am enjoying it

Of the four classes I've played to level 30: Ranger, Engineer, Warrior and Elementalist I have to say it's my Asura Warrior I've had the most fun playing.  I didn't think in a million years I'd dig playing a pint sized ball of fury with a great sword. :)

I do like the Ranger class as well. Funny how I thought that was going to be the profession I rolled to 80.

I may create the Charr Ranger like most and get rid of my Norn Ranger :/ as my alt.

Bought 3 extra slots to play all profesions. I have all 8 on level 5. I decided on the Guardian as Main (now level 28) since I love the support playstile of shielding and buffing the melee zerg while my spirit sword is wacking at enemies.

From most to least comfortable to play with so far:

Guardian: I love the concept and how much this one can bring to group play (anti range-dd)

Engineer: great fun with the belt, will explore this one more

Elementalist: More fun than casters in other games due to element swap

Necromancer:  very timing dependant, hard to play, need to invest more time

Thief: he seems to lack the certain something

Ranger: the Pet management is a bit clumpsy, done better in other games

Warrior: same old same old, fun but not very fresh

Memer: dont really get it, feels a bit chaotic and unsatisfying

Elementalist, because it has the largest variety of skills per weapon set. I explore and take out 1-3 mobs with my two daggers and switch to staff for multi mob events.

So far, it's Mesmer. Necromancer has been fun, too, but I like how fast-paced and versatile Mesmers are.

    Guardian.

Specced hard for survivability.  Somehow though, I still manage to be a beast.  Melee combat is fun.

Dodge roll out of constant effects, aegis things I know my life bar won't like, use my hammer's third hit to protect my way through the dinky damage, + constant retaliation.  Between the retaliation and my burning and the fact I'm doing a lot of melee (Which hits harder than ranged), I am actually using my durability and large life bar along with utility bar full of survival skills to make my dps high. :)

It's an interesting way to play!  I'm also getting pretty good with some monsters and how to fight toe to toe with them.  I was really annoyed when I was running the first dungeon and I actually died for the first time on a run, at the last boss.  It was almost a perfect run. :)

I swap up between that and being exceptionally good at rezzing.

I have maxed out +healing from traits, so I heal faster than usual, and my last utility (The other two are for aegises) is a forcefield + heal.  Plop that down, rez somebody, and with my trait, we both get regen, protection and regeneration out of the deal.  Pretty sweet.  It works great when I'm working with a thief and they put down a cloak first, so we're invisible the whole time. :D

Mostly using hammer and scepter/torch.  Greatswords are for hipsters. :x
