anyone know how to get f1 key to work in game?

zastrophzastroph Member Posts: 242

Usually if you have a game or application as the active window/screen and you press the f1 key, it functions as defined in the program that you are using.

But not in gw2, if I press the f1 key (which is set to a skill), I get taken to the desktop, and the help window opens!

Does anyone know how to get f1 key to work in game?

Thanks

Even if you didnt set it, this is obviously happening from some external program... i would check everything you can starting from finding clues from the help window that you said is popping up, maybe you can get a program name.

Not happening to me... I'm playing a hunter, so F1 is binded to my pet attack skill, and works as intended.

I think you have some external program running which is "active" and you don't realize it... Check your processes running and tray icons and see if you can get something out of it.

Agreed, but just changing the key is probably a lot easier than finding what is messing things up.

I would almost bet you were using an HP laptop as that is what happens to me.  I have to fit the Fn key in the bottom left and the F1 key, so I changed the keybind entirely.

So I have this virus that lets fraudsters take money right from my bank. But it's ok, I switched over to Santander rather than Nationwide...

I think the most helpful thing to let us know is what keyboard you are using or if its a laptop the make/model - this is usually some binding set up on the Keyboard or laptop.

Some MS Keyboards have a Function Key lock and i know some more compact laptops also have something similar.
