Another Failed MMO

Wow what is going on with game makers these days ?

 

Why do they keep making games that are fun for a few levels then run out of juice before the end ?

 

I just hope that EQ3 is going to have a better end game than this failed game .  So disappointing , so much hype and yet just another wannabe wow clone that falled short .

    I think I'm going to start one of those petitions like the "keep COH alive" and request that any thread with the words "failed" or "greatest" be locked as soon as they are spotted.  They generally do nothing to further discussion and they always turn into a war of words.  By all means complain and bash a game if you don't like it but doing it with this title is just looking for a fight.

    Edit:  And yes, I know I didn't have to click on this, but I had a moment of weakness to see how high the flames were.

    My fav part is how since they hate it, the other 1.99999 million other people who play it are stupid.

    I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?

    Would the title   :  Most Amazing MMO Ever made

     

    People need to stop hyping games , Ive wasted hundreds of dollars on games that this site has given thumbs up on and found them to be shallow .

     

    Rift was actually the only game ive played in the last 5 years worth playing .

    We're all very happy that you enjoy(ed) Rift. A significantly large population of us are enjoying GuildWars2 and are quite content to keep doing so. We do no feel it is "Another Failed MMO".

    Guild Wars 2 is a massive success.

     So you wasted hundreds of dollars because you are easily swayed by marketing and PR. The real answer is stop reading into and believing the hype instead of asking the world to stop hyping things.

     

    As for GW2 being a failure, you should be so lucky as to fail like this game has.

    Ive been playing for couple days now off and on. While there are some things IMO that leave alot to be desired, I would definently not call this game fail.

    ***Raving Rabbid is in negotiations to make sure the Plunger is not OP for either ranged or melee. After a demonstation it doesnt look good for keeping it in the game!***

     No they have over 2 million purchases. GW2 has no subs. A little research into the topic you choose to talk about would allow you to make comments that actually pertain to said topic.

    there was a time when an mmo courted 100.000 player was considered a success and now unless every newly released game courts upwards of 5 million people it's labled a failure..Lets be cleare about something ..being labled a failure by people who nothing as to the dev cost or operational cost of a game in no way means it's a failure.  This is the problem with gamers in general. Maybe it's passion of gaming, maybe it's ignorance, maybe it they hype wagon for everything new and shiny...why can't gamers just be happy that any dev puts out something the majority enjoys. The gripe of oversaturation of the market is laughable too. Asian mmos number in the hundreds and many of them, 60% plus are successful.

    If you post hating on a game but just saying "what's wrong with these people" (then close by uplifting another game without also giving an intelligently constructed discussion as to the why), people are afforded the same right to voice their opinion that you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about without further elaboration.

    Opinions are only valuable if there's an intelligent and well educated discussion behind it; without such, it just turns into another hate or fan thread without substantial worth.

    Due to frequent travel in my youth, English isn't something I consider my primary language (and thus I obtained quirky ways of writing).  German and French were always easier for me despite my family being U.S. citizens for over a century.  Spanish I learned as a requirement in school, Japanese and Korean I acquired for my youthful desire of anime and gaming (and also work now).  I only debate in English to help me work with it (and limit things).  In addition, I'm not smart enough to remain fluent in everything and typically need exposure to get in the groove of things again if I haven't heard it in a while.  If you understand Mandarin, I know a little, but it has actually been a challenge and could use some help.

    Also, I thoroughly enjoy debates and have accounts on over a dozen sites for this.  If you wish to engage in such, please put effort in a post and provide sources -- I will then do the same with what I already wrote (if I didn't) as well as with my responses to your own.  Expanding my information on a subject makes my stance either change or strengthen the next time I speak of it or write a thesis.  Allow me to thank you sincerely for your time.

    That's the reason why these threads are pointless.  I had a lot of friends play Rift and all rage quit after 2 months because they think the game was epic fail.  You think its the only game worth playing...probably like a lot of people.

    IMO GW2 is the only game I think is worth playing post my EVE and Fallen Earth days.  Partly due to my RL activities, the mechanics and gameplay in GW2 is perfect for me.  (e.g. I don't have time standing around screaming for a goddam healer, tank or whatever.  I can just play!)

    I think MPOG needs to have a definition of the word 'Fail' somewhere.  Its way too qualitative.

    I think the problem is that I have clocked over 100+ hours on this game already .

    If I went back to the same amount of hours that you currently have played ( guessing ) I probably thought the game was ok too and not a failure ,  but once you hit the meat / juice of the game you begin to see it's failing which are only obvious if you have played in a high end raiding guild in WOW for example .

    Suffice to say the PvE in GW2 is badly done.

    That's why their model is so good.  They will still have 2 million 'subs' plus.  Because really, they have already made their money and don't need people to remain subbed.  Can't base it on subs.
