Update/edit: No problem to report at the moment....

Ok. So I went out this weekend and got a new, mobo, CPU, cooler, memory and graphics card.

This is what I got:

Intel Core i7 3770K / 3.5 GHz Processor - LGA1155

Gigabyte GV N670OC-2GD - GF-GTX670 2GB

Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H - ATX LGA1155

Zalman cooler

2x8 GB 1600 mhz memory

I reused these from my old PC

Zalman GT1000 Gaming Case

OCZ GameXStream 850 watt

XFI Sound card

I also recently got an Intel SSD 520 series 240GB. I also have a lot of other hard drives.

Yea solved it by acquiring a new PC; all new components except tower, PSU and sound card... ;)

Conclusion is that it really wasn't the new Intel SSD 520 that were to blame, but my hardware was just too old.

Now just be careful that you don't fry all your new hardware with a mediocre power supply.  It will probably work fine, but it's a risk that you don't need to take on your budget.

Nice.  That's one hell of an upgrade.
