Spellcasting in DAoC

Hey, In my desperation after a mmo to play I started a trial for this game and I choose a shaman to play. But I dont understand how im supposed to be able to throw spells without being interrupted? Say im trying to kill a wolf and the bugger keeps hitting me so my spell interrupts. Ive tried kiting but it feels worthless and doesnt really work. So my question is this. Is the casting in this game actually hard because in WoW its easy peasy lemon squezy or am i doing something wrong?

Note i do not play WoW but I did 2 years back.

Any kind of damage interrupts casting. As a solo shaman you should buff yourself as good as you can, throw a dot on the mob and melee it down.

The best way to level is to find a group tho, all you need is 2 melee + a shaman and you already have a very effective group for exping (also shamans are probably the most wanted class in mid)
