Hey all,
I've been taking a break from MMO's lately due to university and other stuff but I'm thinking of playing casually again. I think WoW is out of the question because the end game seems to irritate me, like there is nothing worth playing for, just a stream of constant new epics and grinding for bigger, better pvp armour in order to stay competative.
I understand this is the practice of theme parks but I hear GW2 isn't as severe. Also as its still early days, theoretically there would be less catching up to do, wouldn't there?
I'm looking for a game I can not only enjoy through the levelling experience but also have other things too, like crafting and exploration. I don't know any of the details regarding these two in the game though, except for some mention of jumping games, which sounded interesting. I also have an interest in player run economies and I can get in some cases more enjoyment simply from making gold.
Having returned to LOTRO several times over the years It has become my MMO refuge when I seek a mature community to socialise with and its these times that become some of my better memories of MMO's, does GW2 have a social community?
My other concerns is if my computer will handle it. I have seen the system requirements (minimum that is) and my computer does meet those requirements but I am concerned that should I have to play on low settings it may not run so well in the large scale pvp or world events and the game will also be visually unappealing.
This is an important decision for me, I know the benefit of buying GW2 is its free after that, but as a student I don't have a whole lot of money so If I were to buy this it would be like the only game I get for months, so as you might imagine, I want to make sure its a good one and a very good investment.
I'd love to hear from many of you who have been playing and share your thoughts on whether it offers a less theme park experience.
