Been waiting on this for a long, long time. Darkfall was good in concept, but lacked polish to make it that perfect medieval equivalent of EVE Online. I bought Guild Wars 2 but got buyer's remorse 10 hours into it. I'm done with themeparks.
Also very glad to hear this will be a monthly sub, I'll just quit my Gamefly sub and put it into this game. For MMO's to be done right and non-Pay2Win, Monthly sub is the way to go.

sorry to brake it to you but DF is a lot more fantasy then medieval. The magic aspect of combat is so incredibly prevalent that battles feel almost more like Halo then M&B.
still the setting and ambiance is very medieval i guess..
because its mmorpg.com 90% of the people seem to do nothing but bash on games no matter what the game... either way would be nice to get more footage on the new world design and gameplay footage with not long till the supposive launch not having a gameplay trailer or anything is little discouraging.
I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg
If played right? Wtf... isnt it supposed to be a sandbox?
Isnt outdated?? Of course its outdated, why do you think theyre overhauling the engine and re-releasing Also, DF 1.0 was hardly a taxing game, not sure wtf youre talking about computers that cant run it properly. The system requirements werent that high even back in 2008
Operating System: Windows XP, Vista
Processor: 2.5GHz Pentium 4, or equivalent
RAM: 1GB for Windows XP, 2GB for Windows Vista
Graphics Card: 128MB PixelShader 2.0 support
Hard Drive Space: 12 GB Free Space Minimum
DF was horrible when it came to performance unless you had either a) a high end multi core system or b) just a decent or better single core system.
low to medium end dual or quad core systems ran it like trash because the game only used 1. Its similar to the problems people experience in the 1st few betas of GW2. Not a very graphically demanding game, but with it not being optimized for use of more than 1 core, it ran like complete ass even on pretty good modern systems.
GFX card has very little to do with it when it comes to DF1, its all about the power of that single core being used. Hopefully they fixed that.
I never had any performance issues with DF. Think I was running a e8400 and GTX8800 back in 2009.
When the game launched it had huge memory leaks. So if you traveled any distance the game would crash. People who had 6+ Gigs of Ram didn't have as much of a problem.
I remember when traveling far with my guild to raid we would all log out, so that we wouldn't crash in the middle of combat.
Wa min God! Se æx on min heafod is!
Fresh start, hack prevention and accelerated character viability is all im asking for.
Because haters are the only ones who bring these unrealistic hypsters back to the ground. It's like these pre release hypsters haven't learned their lesson after the last 12 disasters.

Most of the people "in the know" around here are actual DF vets that have played the original on and off for the last 3.5 years. We know what to expect from AV and from DF UW. It's everyone else coming in here with their unrealistic expectations that is going crazy with the hype and the requests for changes and additions. Based on AV's track record I guarantee DF UW was "feature" complete before they even announced the release date. These are the features AV intends to have in the game like the improved UI, lighting, and role/class system. NOT things like pve only territories and other garbage like that. Game is more than likely done at this point they are just testing their systems internally. So don't expect any "new" features to be announced or added cause what they've said is what we'll get nothing more nothing less.

Whats it matter? Its not like theyre taking preorders or anything.
I'm interested in Darkfall for a few reasons. Interested being the key word, not saying I'm buying it, I'm just interested enough to watch and see.
What happens when you log off your characters????.....

Not even close to EVE. The "hardcore" pvp in Darkfall is what holds it back. Look at the system security in EVE, you have carebear zones, slightly dangerous zones, and hardcore zones. Players are free to play whatever way they want, one day I might feel like playing it safe and the next I might feel like a wildman looking for fights in null sec. Options are very important for a game to be a good sandbox, Darkfall has 1, risk everything always and because of that it will attract only one type of player, the hardcore pvper. In EVE the "carebears" are what fuel the war machine, they mine materials and craft equipment and that makes it easy for the the fighters to keep fighting. Not saying this doesn't happen in Darkfall, but it's noticbly less common.
A "good sandbox" has to have game level enforced safe zones???
Play Eve, safety is still relative even in 1.0 space, meaning that you can still kill people there, but there are higer consequences. Darkfall right now is just one big pvp arena, no depth to it all.

That's my main concern too. I love pvp, but I love it in a creative backround and with as many facets as possible. Maybe I was spoiled by EvE but it would be nice if they try to give darkfall more depth.
Don't get too excited. It's not out yet and Aventurine isn't known for building stellar games...
A "wait and see" attitude is probably the best choice to avoid the inevitable post-hype rage later.
