From some of the comments I've been reading this game sounds like it wont be able to develop much fo a community given that everyone you see pretty much is gonna shoot on sight . This makes it all but impossible to make friends in the game .
So I'm wondering what sort of different types of server options do you have . How bad is the ganking ?
Also given is ment to be 60 square miles eventually with 250 people per server will this mean coming across other players will be quite rare and the ganking infrequent ?
I don't mind pvp but if your being ganked left right and centre the game becomes unplayable in the end . I don't even mind being ganked now and then as long as its not a gankfest .
Are there factions ie. survivors and bandits ? So you know if your going to encounter a friendly or enemy player . Or is it like Age of Conan where anyone apart from your guild can kill you ?

Think you've proved a point . The game will have no community at all if everyone is like you . So essentially it will be a gankfest .
Think I'll pass games without a community arnt for me .Unless of course there are factions ?
no pve servers, game would be boring as hell if that was the case.
As for PVP they are going to try and bring things in to cut down on the PVP but you will always get people who just want to PVP its the way of the game.
Tho we still dont know too much as at the moment the game is in alpha so there are ahrdly any features in game..
That's what i've read and that's why i've pretty much avoided games like these niche game titles. Saw a video of someone going around trying to help this guy kill zombies while they raided an abondoned house, he waited until the zombies were dead and then shot the guy from behind in the head and raided his backpack. not my idea of fun sorry.
Lol ya its definately different. I personally loved DayZ. You could never trust anyone you didn't already know which adds to the excitement. The thing in DayZ though is that there is no pve to speak of so the dynamic is completely different, it doesn't feel like you are getting ganked when there is no real goals to the game but to survive.
Not mine either . Sounds like a game for sociopaths . Shame I really wanted to like this game but the more I'm hearing it just sounds like a massive deathmatch where you cant trust anyone .
If there had been some sort of factions where there were players you could interact with it might have been fun .
/facepalm
yes the whole point of this game is to avoid being ganked....that's it.
the cool part is that you dont have to grind absolutely any stats or levels or do any quests. all you have to do is find food to survive long enough so you can find a good gun....then shoot on sight.
most clans/groups in Dayz are RL friends that play together.
played M59,UO,lineage,EQ,Daoc,Entropia,SWG,Horizons,Lineage2.EQ2,Vangaurd,Irth online, DarkFall,Star Trek
and many others that did not make the cut or i just plain forgetting about.
/Facepalm all your like m8 but if your someone that just wants to go out and kill other players and not interact with them in anyway shape or form your not someone that I would want to know .In real life or in a game . Part of the fun with mmos is the player interaction . This sounds more like a first person shooter to me than an mmo . Much as I love the zombie genre if you don't have any dialouge with others playing it then this game will get boring fast . And if everyone you come across is out to kill you then your going to get no player interaction at all .
Yeah i am just going to facepalm again on your gross generalisations.
They need to fix weapon balance, being able to kill someone in 3 hits with a torch is not realistic nor does it lend to good game play.
If the torch was balanced as a weapon and took many hits to kill then there wouldn't be rampant spawn ganking as people would have a chance to run away or fight back.
Thing is if it were a zombie appocalyspe people would have to work together for survival . Once someone helps you out its proberbly wise not to shoot them in the back .
Killing someone in 3 hits with a torch not realistic?? Did you mean not normal in video games?
I know where you're coming from but in my experience full pvp servers actually tend to have more relevant and tighter comunities - they tend to be smaller and focused is all. Shadowbane was like this for me, moving to a game like WoW/SWTOR/TSW etc.... all seem to lack that 'x-factor'.
Seems to me in WarZ you'll find that you do come across like minded individuals and work together to survive.
My issue with WarZ is in facilitating this. Yes I get the idea of dropping you in the middle of nowhere, but lets be honest, i'm wanting to hook up with my buddies and do some gaming not spend half the night trying to do so. It would be nice if you could mark someone as a 'friend' after meeting them in game and have some means of finding one another more efficiently.
Perhaps safe zones will provide for that, we'll see.
So what would you call someone who you help out who turns around and then shoots you in the back ?To me thats the very definition of a sociopath . Thats the context we are talking about here theres no generalisation needed . It sounds like it going to be a game thats going to attract a lot of unfriendly immature players . No community to speak of .
/Facepalm
I mean both, I have watched countless videos of these kills and they aren't headshots, it's just 3 smacks with a torch just waving it up and down and the other person is dead. That's not realistic nor is it good gameplay. Spawn every next to eachother with the ability to kill eachother in 3 single hits.
To kill someone with 3 hits of a torch in real life you would have to have the correct angle and force to even have a chance, chances are you wouldn't be able to hit someone like that 3 times without them having time to react. Unless you manage to hit them flush straight away and KO them.
Not to even start talking about how a bat or other melee weapon is currently weaker than a torch.
PSA of the day:
ITS A VIDEO GAME!
Stop trying to turn it into serious business.
This just blows my mind......
True but some games tend to be fun others dont . A lot depends on the community that they attract . For me and many others I would think . The social side of an mmo is part of what makes them fun . Helping someone in game only to get shot in the in back really isn't going to be much fun in the long run is it . Unless of course your the type are arsehat that likes shooting people in the back in video games and finds that fun . Its hardly a serious buisness but if you are going to falk out money for a game you want to get some idea of what its going to be like and the type of people playing it .
This sounds just like one massive deathmatch to me . Not what I look for in an mmo .
I disagree. Not everyone will work together, when there is chaos and basic human needs need to be met people will turn on each other. If the game turns into a pure gank fest than it wasn't done correctly, for example in DayZ people don't kill others just because there is too much risk in doing that.
So liking something different to you in a make believe world is your definition of being a sociopath? Wow.
If this is all it takes to blow your mind then you really need to get out a bit more
