How good is GW2? Have not logged in for a week due to other games.

OK GW2 is fun, it has nice exploration, beautiful artwork, cool features like the easier questing where you need no parties and can solo pretty much 1-80.

But, the PVP is instanced, there is no PVP using your regular gear and character. The PVP is optional only and minigame capture point style. the dungeons leave a lot to be desired and that means I really only have half a game I can fully enjoy.

So, I am in the War Z alpha and that game alone even at its unfinished state where we only can play 20% of the features and 30% of the map is more thrilling by far to me.

Then, Raiderz a F2P MMO its not awesome, but also fun, as fun as GW2 with even better combat(you can roll, block, it uses all siming, combines classes if you want, new skills for different weapon types, etc.) Also has the walk in and quest system for some things so you dont always need parties. But it has a lot of parts where you want to party up.

Neverwinter looks like it might b very good. Wizardry online, Ultima new online game, and many more on the horizon. Darkfall unholy war cousl suck or be fun for pvpers. Lots of stuff coming.

Anyway, i came to not talk about other games.

I came to say GW2 is just a stop in the road, any game can pull most players away from it. Its not the epic gaem they tried to say it would be.

I will continue to play GW2, but probably 1 time a week or maybe not play for a while but come back for events like Halloween and other stuff for fun.

Its a casual game, not addictive and not epic. The End.

To the part in red.... You havent heard of this little thing called WvWvW, with hundreds of players running around PvPing eachother in their normal gear and unlocked skills?

That is INSTANCED PVP. It takes you to a new map that has nothing to do with the actual maps you plauy PVE on.

Also, I was LVL 1 and went to WvW and it made me instantly LVL80, its not using my pve character.... It is a minigame. I am LVL 55 now I believe and feel no need to go do WvW its not fun to me as its nothing connected to my PVE experience or world, its just an optional thing on the side.

Do you actually know what PVP MMORPG combat is on the normal map where  you can be ganked and defend points or attack, etc?

GW2 is a casual game everything is optional. I can reach lvl 80 and do 0 dungeons, 0 pvp, 0 parties. That is just not immersive enough to make me play the game over others.

For you GW2 maybe is a great game, to me it is fun and good, but liek I said I play my other games more and I didn't think that woudl happen while I waited for this game to be released and heard the devs say it waould be so epic.

    1) Yes your base stats are boosted to 80, but you do not have the skills, traits, gear, consumables, and upgrade components of an 80. You dont really stand much of a chance against an 80 by yourself at level 1 TBH. No you wont get 1 shot or something, but unless theyre half asleep, yure going to lose pretty badly.

    2) "PVP MMORPG combat" is not what you think it is. It does not take place in just 1 way. What you describe is called OPEN WORLD PVP.

    3) You're right. Everything is optional. I can also level completely off of PvP in WvWvW without ever having to do PvE content. I can also level the entire time in a party. Would you prefer only PvE to level, and no option to level from other things like PvP? You consider the ability to level however you want a bad thing? And what game still in existence doesnt allow you to reach max level solo? Only 1 can think of is FFXI, and even that can be done if youre very determined to solo. You speak of  more options like its a bad thing, and as if the ability to do some things doesnt exist in 99% of games (including the games you listed). I dont get it all.

Anyway.... was just pointing out that you completely left out WvWvW (or i guess more accurately completely misunderstood it). But since you brought up the rest, there you go.

All have different opinions, Guild Wars 2 ins´t for everyone.

Otherwise, it is kinda hard to even compare it to RaiderZ, since it is basically, a korean-style grindfest game, where you will find yourself killing the same monsters for weeks to reach the level cap, where you will need to top-up since it is kinda P2W game. RaiderZ has some cool things and is kinda good compared to F2P but is far from comeptive agaisnt the good titles in the market. It is simply a Perfect World-style game, with better graphics, combat and some cool extra features.

TSO is the next one, i think. but the Hype around GW2 was just huge. I remember people talking about the game who will change everything, the messiah of the MMO world. ¿DId you remember all the love and ¨best MMO of all times¨ post here on mmorpg in the 1st week?. GW2 is a good game, but that all. Is not even the best game of the year.

rofl. fading away? we have 14 full servers at peak times, and as of 4 days ago, there are no medium pop servers left. they keep increasing server capacity, and now all servers are full or high. the game is clearly growing. my guild is 400 strong, with 50-100 on at a time, and all my friends are still playing.

the game is simply gonna explode in 2 days with the first content patch. i bought XCom and BL2 and unfortunately i havent gotten a chance to play them yet. im actually sad about that, but the fun is too great in GW2, for me anyway.

for many people, this is their main MMO. it's actually not that casual with explorable dungeons, legendary grinding and WvW. WvW makes the game simply epic.

I'm juggling GW2, Firefall and Borderlands 2 at the moment so I only log in a few times a week. When I do it tends to be for a few hours and my characters are only level 22 at the highest. still plenty to do but there are just too many awesome games out at the moment.

    There is NO miracle patch.

95% of what you see in beta won't change by launch.

    Hope is not a stategy.

Yea I am just saying I have as much fun in Raiderz as GW2. I expected GW2 to make me play for months or a year + and not be bored and for it to be the best game out, its not.

A lot of good games are coming soon and some cool ones already out, GW2 is good also, just not epic or great!

Lets see hwo Neverwinter is or TES Online or Wizardry online, Darkfall: unholy war, War Z and all the rest turn out in the end.

I expect one of those to be a lot better than GW2 in fun factor and addicting play.
