Sure, Star Wars The Old Republic has problems.
It had problems when it was released, and it still has problems to this day. It did carry to the genre a great story telling mechanism, as well as a defined graphics standard (stuff gets to full resolution when you get close, instead of blurry).
It also carried with it a monster of a soundtrack package.

Regardless of how I feel for this game in it's current state, or how anyone else feels, SWTOR set a new level of music and songs. I simply have not yet even seen a game even compare.

This game will go down in history as being the biggest sound & music game in history (thus far). Some games have nice music too (hey I like other games music) ... but can they do 5.5 hours of original music for 1 game?

Dont get me wrong, I love the music, I have the CD and star wars music has always been amazing. But there are a fair number of games that just have some epic music. I thought the original gw was great (Soule did do KotOR I believe?). I thought Age of Conans was pretty epic and well done. WoW has it's moments, few and far between, but when they hit, wowwy!
I don't know if I could say this game has the best music, just because John Williams made so much of it so long ago, and it wasn't created just for the game. The music created just for the game is quite good though.
GW2 keeps playing the same songs over and over and over .. I turned sound off. Maybe it's just me. Yes nice songs, but it's not really the point here. SWTOR had a shit load of songs at release, not just a few.

IMO FFXI had the best music out of any of the MMO's ive played. I could uear a song from that games soundtrack and tell you where it played or from what fight it was from. I mute my ingame music in other MMMOs and play it instead even sometimes.
The game alone gave me great memories, but the amazing music along with it just amplified those memories 10x.

Age of Conan has the best music ever in an MMO
In SWTOR I only remember the ultra slow motion 10bpm tracks on planets to strech one theme out over 5 minutes. Ugh.
Almost no interactivity of music during combat either. Meh. I could insert any John Williams CD from Ep 1-6 and have more excitement while playing.

Plus the songs in cinematics had music tailored to them.

Sorry but that is such a cheesy attempt of a rearrangement ("remix" is the wrong word mate),
Orchestra= detuned
Harmonic progression = awful
New part = lame
JW would have never scored it that way.

If you hate the game, thats one thing. I can sympathize there. But the music was pretty good.

Playing: ESO, WOT, Smite, and Marvel Heroes
Seconding AoC. Such an amazing soundtrack that doesn't get enough attention becuase of how the game turned out. Also yes, I'd argue GW1 has better soundtrack than GW2, but mainly becuase Soule opted for a more subdued and atmospheric soundtrack in the sequel so you barely hear it by design when exploring. Both Final Fantasy MMOs have amazing soundtracks that retain the series' core roots, yet also works as something you can listen to for a long time in an MMO.
Problem with TOR's soundtrack is that it's basically just retreading the same old songs we're all familiar with so it feels incredibly samey and cashing in on nostalgia, aside from few good new songs. One good SW game that did its own thing with the soundtrack and triumphed because of it would be Republic Commando.
Heaven forbid I'm actually a SW fan !! :P
I hate the F2P model, but I love the art.. will that make me a .. . is there a word to describe a lover and a hater?
Actually if you read my posts, you'd realize my best interests are for Star Wars, even if I massively critisize EA and what they are doing :P

Compare to the original, that doesn´t mean I don´t like the game, but the new TOR ingame music doesn´t live up to any track by JW. They should have used more material by JW. There are some tracks in game by JW, but not enough.
