Is Aion worth playing anymore?

Hi, I played Aion previously and quite honestly didn't even know it had gone F2P. Is it heavily cash shop dependent? How has the game progressed in the last year or so? Would you reccomend playing it? I got GW2 and have grown bored of it already, looking for something fun.

    Actually Aion is probably the best F2P game available if you go by the cash shop model they use. You pretty much get everything in the game for free and the cash shop is there for cosmetics and other nice small bonuses. However there is no need to use it. Exactly as it should be.

     

    However, I have no idea on the state of the game is been a long time since I played it properly. I would say it's still quite enjoyable and with a fairly decent population. Plus I believe the patch is coming soon with the mounts and player housing... even some new classes I've seen mentioned.

     

    Probably worth a look again if you're bored ;)

    Thank you for the quick response. I downloaded and patched up the game yesterday, I'll hop on today after work and create a character. Anyone know if there's a difference between the races? Storyline?

     

    Also, anyone who is currently playing, which server seems the most populated?
