Set Up To Be Let Down

first of all lets be clear; i set myself up, it wasnt anets doing. i personally was really looking forward to this game for various reasons, like most people, but it had nothing to do with fanboy garbage or other people hyping it. i did my own research.

first, bugs: i get it, its new of course things arent going to go right. but after the halloween holiday rolled up and my 1st toon was already 80, the pumpkin boss guy in the dungeon was fucked up. when i entered the dungeon, there were no mobs and no way to attempt to kill the boss. for the entire week-ten days however long it was. i never got to do it. so to me it was pretty much pointless to go thru other things like carving pumpkins or anything else, it was all lame. meantime, i kept hoping that soon we might have gotten a patch for my extremely lame toon. everyone knows what class it is, its so fucking weak im embarrassed to play it any more, tho in pve its ok, but wvw its pretty much worthless. usually gets 2 hit and is done. i dont like the closed in spvp maps so they arent worth my time.

next buggy thing was this 3 day lost isles nonsense. the first day, one of the main npcs to help you progress thru the story wasnt even there. we had a huge grp of people just sitting around dancing, chatting, talking smack, hoping anet would come thru with a fix so we could move on. i finally gave up and logged off. next day, went back to where that npc was sposed to be, he was there, but he DIDNT DO ANYTHING, just stood there. keeping in mind this is the free trial weekend for people who may have invited friends, i would be embarrassed to invite my friend to what i thought was still kind of a cool game, just to have pretty much the entire weekend special bugged and ruined. so i pretty much ignored the whole stupid thing. i couldnt do it when i wanted to so they can shove it.

the last month i had posted in the forums there about 'Stop Selling Commander Title'. worst idea i ever saw in an mmo. you dont sell that, you make people earn it, thats just common sense. buying it only leads to popularity contests and nubs in general having it, when they dont ever have to step onto a bg, ever. did i say ever? ya. anyway there were no people directly named, nor any smack talk about idiots who may have it but are stupid, nothing like that, it was all squeaky clean general post, which got over 100+ replies, usually in agreement in one form or another. signed back onto forums the next day, went to comment on a post, just to find out i was BANNED from posting on the forums. i looked around, and found several other people who had gotten banned from posting on the forums too, simply because they apparently said something negative about anet, and the mods didnt like it. cant handle constructive criticism? sure as hell looks like it.

to wrap it up, yesterday, since as i said i was looking forward to maybe a good patch for my class to make it not the laughing stock of dps any more, i found a forum post about the patch notes from a cpl days previous, specifically concerning my class changes that were supposed to be 'substantial' according to one of the two devs who worked on it. the only thing changed out of over 10 different things, was an underwater shot strength. everything else was either cosmetic or not even worth changing. there were almost 1000 people who immediately logged on the forums to complain about that.

the moral of the story? it seriously doesnt matter what you think about this game or changes youd like to see as a customer and a person who keeps these people in a job, they dont care. if they feel something needs to be changed, they will do it, your input in any forums or otherwise has no bearing on anything. they will tell you your input is always considered but that is garbage, with most patches they clearly are more concerned with cosmetic changes in it and adding some new content rather than refining what is already in game to make it more fun and balanced, along with a particular preferrence for some classes by some devs (warriors you know who you are). im not rolling another class. i have 2 80s on this gw2 and im not into the magic slingers, so theres not much point in continuing with it from my end.

loved it at first, but the more i got into it and discovered the strengths and weaknesses, the latter are starting to far outweigh the former. bummer.
