Status of PVP - PVE in game

Getting this out of the way, yes I am what you call a Carebear and yes I hate PVP unless I am forced to defend myself.  Flame away if you need to, but hopefully someone can give me an honest answer without the needless comments on how I like to play.

With that, I am looking to understand the level of both, as posts I currently read seem to state different levels of it, such as Rifting debuffs at one point, then gone, then back again... and ways to avoid PVP all together but still researching on that level.

Could anyone who is a current player inform can I play this game in a PVE fashion, or am I in for a gankfest as it was before?

I just rerolled on Tiamet, seeming like data I have read has a higher PvE status, but could be wrong as well.  I do know about the fast track server, but do not know when that ride ends and back to the normal side.

Aion is heavy on the PVP side so if PVP is not your thing I would not bother at all.

I haven't played since GW2 came out, but when I last played it was possible to level to near max (if not max level) without spending much time in a PvP zone.  If you have a need to complete everything however, you will end up getting ganked from time to time.  It was nothing like the first year though.

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.

I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.

I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.

U can avoid PvP by going to fast track server ( lvl 10 - 55) and in new 3.0 map ull play with different race in the same map so there is only couple areas where u can PvP.

Well, thanks for the replies, hoped for a bit more detail but seems like I will just sit it out for now.  Everything I read seems to be a sin for even being a PvE player in the game, so no real reason to hope for something that will never come.  Without a group as well, playing would be extremely difficult it seems as well.

Wishful dreams, game is beautiful and 4.0 was eye candy for me, but alas the Carebear loses.

    Thanks again!

Its kinda sad what happend to aion and where it is now.

Game was hailed at launch as the greatest merger of east and wast gaming styles.  Unfortunately, the pvp sucked hardcore.  The game was centerd around pvp that was aweful.  The abyss was a boring place to be and the seiges were out of control with amounts of players participating, making it unplayable for anyone.

After the dust settled and they merged the 50 or so launch servers, turns out the game has decent pve.  Bad thing is the foundation of it being a pvp focused game puts the game mechanically at odds with its players and what the game does best.

Its actually kinda interesting.  I think the game would have been a smashing success here in the west had it ignored their abyss pvp system, gotten rid of pvp rifts...removed the lame and boring 2 factions who are enemies...and gone a whole different route with the game.

I think this game is still a huge success in korea and asia...just here in the west it pretty much needs the "global" community to stay decently populated.

I cant play a mmorpg without decent pvp, but this game should have stuck to pve, it would have done much better..
