Hello all,

I have been around games since EQ alpha, love all sorts of MMO. I have been looking for a good 'sandbox' game that allows me to do, well.... anything. Xsyon is it! I know it is frustrating to get started and nothing in a game like is going to come easy. Compare this game to Wurm or A tale in the Desert. It takes weeks, and months to even build up a small homestead. However, you can build anything.

There is a new video on Steam Greenlight. It is more than what I have even seen in the game as I have been gone for almost 3 months.

The first thing I will admit is... the games lacks in many places. However, if you are crafter at heart.... which I am, I had a vision of what I wanted to do in the game and I am doing it. I have a small post on the edge of the lake. I have built up walls, added a place for a dock when boats come into the game and now I am looking at doing something that I have not yet seen in the game. Some amazing buildings and tribes, some great players that are helpful and knowledgable.

Give it a try if you have tried it and left or if you have not tried it at all... if you want a good crafting game.... Xsyon is it. Oh, and of course there is more. Hunting, fishing, pvp, combat, exploring, crafting and more crafting.... you name it, you think it, you can do it. YES the learning curve is steep... but not as cumbersome as games like Wurm. The UI is easy to use, the graphics are great.

Go to steam here http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=118110002 and please vote yes...

then go here to the main webpage http://www.xsyon.com/blog.php and get in the game. Once in game do /y for global chat, my IGN is Tredo as well.... come find me and I will personally help you on your way. I have been in the game since the servers went live almost 2 years ago. I have to tell you, the game is amazing!!! Come see what the game is like... you just might like it!!!

As far as the F2P vs the pay to win concept that I have been reading about.... tbh, I know a lot of free players that love the game and are not missing out on anything.

Come see for yourself.... remember... its F2P!!

Correct it does not gimp the play experience.

Xsyon is coming along nicely but is still along way away from Wurm or even Ultima.

So much crap, so little quality.

I wouldn't compare wurm with xsyon. You know as well as I do Hodo that everything in wurm takes a ungodly amount of time even for a veteran player who has most skills at 90+ as I and most of my village did. A simple task of mining or making bricks requires a team of players to make any task go quickly. If you are one of the unlucky ones who have no help then expect to sit for hours making bricks or crafting which you could be doing something else to enjoy your free time with than working a second job. The crafting is so indepth, yeah at what cost? I've spent hours collecting materials to grind one skill and would see very little gains, after a short period of that you just throw your hands up and decide to go out and do some hunting for a little enjoyment and watching text scroll isn't really enjoyable when you have no input with combat really. After 6+ years of playing the game and actually doing developer work for it, I gave up. It's way to tedious and I eventually felt like I was putting in more time at work which is what I was trying to escape from. Rolf does things a little different than most people would do them, I've gone through a lot of nerfs because he didn't really think things out and poorly implemented unfinished features.

I wouldn't compare wurm to xsyon what so ever, at least the updates that come in the game are not so game breaking or require ten fixes down the line just to reach a state of screwed up but working, never to be touched again. I went through those updates on a regular basis in wurm but not in xsyon.

The only reason I compare Wurm and Xsyon is because they are both true sandboxes.   Not like WoW, or Rift vs Xsyon.

Wurm has more content, by leaps and bounds, but you are completely right about Wurms grind and lack of feel in anything.

I have played both, I liked Wurm for the ships and the complete feel of freedom, but I hated Wurm because of the ridiculous grind.    But in someways Xsyon isnt much better.   You make tons of useless junk till you have a skill high enough to make something decent, but it doesnt matter that much because the difference in damage or protection is pretty minor from mid level gear to high level gear.

When he does the crafting update and armor takes damage from use, you will see those grind items actually getting a use since having piles and piles of armor will be outfitting your tribe members when they ruin their sets.

The gear was reworked some months ago to give different levels a use, bone is the best but will slow you down as well. It just depends on your play style and what you want. In wurm I would wear nothing but dragon scale at 90+ ql and enchants at that level as well but the combat lacks much to be desired.

Farming is coming soon as well from what I hear and that should add some of that content wurm has that a lot want to see, giving food a use along with cooking. Thirst/hunger, comfort, and the like are all coming. When this stuff gets added a lot of what I did like about wurm will be taken care of for the most part, except for the boats and animal taming :P

im sorry just because you can dig in the dirt doesnt make the game a true sandbox or a quality one but that aside.....is Jordi updating his game more now? or is he still pretty much leaving town every other week to russia or wherever? This game has the potential to be a good cult hit but lacks any timely updates at all. You can pretty much do everything this game has to offer in less than two weeks time playing. I come back from time to time to see how things are going but havent lately because the last update with any real signifigance was the zombie update and totem decay and a promised crafting overhaul that was never done.
