Is this like, Diablo-esque ( small number of skills active ) mostly hold down one button the whole time ? Just curious if this is going to be very simplified few spells/actions...
also, does this game suffer from the problem with all classes having identical abilities yet with different animation ?

I haven't played it yet (the next beta starts in about 3 hours I think) but from what I've seen so far from various streams...
Few active skills: yes, I believe you can have 7 in total (left mouse button, right mouse button, Q, R, E, 1 and 2) at any one time. You have more skills than that though, it's similar to D3 in that regard that you can switch out your skills seemingly whenever you want (not in the middle of combat, though, and switching skills puts a cooldown on them, for like 10 seconds or something).
Holding down one button: no, it sure didn't look that way.
Identical abilities: nope, doesn't look that way. Every class seems to be fairly unique and the all have a unique mechanic, too. For example, the devoted cleric has divine spirit or something which charges up as he attacks foes. He can then use this spirit to power up his spells, also his left and right mouse button attacks turn into channeled damage/heal I think. The guardian fighter cannot dodge but can instead block, but his block gauge goes down every time he blocks something so he must use different skills to keep it up or he won't be able to block. The trickster rogue can go into stealth as soon as his stealth bar is ready and then (other than being invisible) can do extra damage by attacking and coming out of stealth.

Did not know beta is in 3 hours, is there an NDA ? I really hope your description is proven accurate after you play it... unique classes = win.
the beta was announced several weekends ago, hence the founders packs. But yes the devs stated quite clearly they believe in the trinity and that it shouldnt be broken so specific classes will definately have thier places and jobs. luckily though as with Bill Murphy's video of his cleric build it looks like healers can do alot more than sit on thier duffs and spam the same button over and over.
You have to actually move to position yourself as its LoS targetting. no tab targetting. which in my experience has usually shown for a more fluid battle system.. never could get used to the tab targetting stand in one spot and grow roots mentality.
Played: UO, LotR, WoW, SWG, DDO, AoC, EVE, Warhammer, TF2, EQ2, SWTOR, TSW, CSS, KF, L4D, AoW, WoT
Playing: The Secret World until Citadel of Sorcery goes into Alpha testing.
Tired of: Linear quest games, dailies, and dumbed down games
Anticipating:Citadel of Sorcery
I don't know but it's more like a Dragon Nest Game for me with much more eye candy graphics + D&D features.
