Two things:
- HUGE Content -- at level 13, I'm looking at 30, yes THIRTY, different dungeons and areas to play in at my level, on 3 continents. For every level, there are multiple places to level up. There is no way to level a character up and see it all, unless you turn off XP. With 15 different classes, that are unbalanced and play differently, it makes for a lot of re-playability. And for those of us with "altitis", the fact that many classes have sub-classes, makes it even more complex and fun.
- Wide Open World -- there are no instances, none (that I have found). No loading screens, at all. The whole world is wide open; if you see a mountain in the distance, you CAN go to it and climb it, if you can. There are no invisible walls. Buildings and dungeons are not instanced, you can look through the windows of a building and see if anyone is inside.
I played DAOC in the beginning, and loved it. After that, I played CoH, Ryzom, and PoTBS. No WoW. So I am not burned out on the "old-style" MMO. Vanguard is a old-style game with no easy-mode, with involved mini-games for crafting, diplomacy, and fishing.
And as I looked at the group finder, and the preferred dungeon selector, I couldn't help but notice that I had THIRTY dungeons at my level, to choose from.

but who would want to play even 1 of those dungeons with such an awful combat system? a sadomasichistic gamer maybe... ugh Vanguard sounds fine on paper but is horrendous in actual play.
this is coming from an old school M59/EQ player of more years than i wish to admit to... nobody wants a hardcore, open world MMO more than me.. but Vanguard is just a flawed and poor game. Yes they added bandaids to fix minor problems.. but bandaids does nothing to cure a cancer. I gave Vanguard an honest 3 month try.. 3 months i can never get back lol. lessons learned.
