MMORPG elements?

snoop101snoop101 Member UncommonPosts: 400

Could someone list the MMORPG elements of this game?

Im thinking of trying it out, but if its just another diablo 3 or torchlight 2 then i'll just play torchlight 2.

I always hoped for a game like diablo or torchlight that was a true MMORPG, so hopefully this excites me.

(please stay away from "this is not an MMO newb go away" and please post more details of the specific mmorpg elements that it does have)

I'm interested, too. I've played the game and I don't really see why people call it an MMO.

There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein

It's not an MMO, the only remotely MMO like element in this game is a server wide chat system.

    Currently Playing: ESO and FFXIV
    Have played: You name it

Well its closer to Guild Wars 1 than a true mmo but with added global chat channels for both general and trade channels {seperated by the dificulty one is currently playing on}. It does have have posibly the deepest statuildskill customization I have seen in any game(including mmo's). But it is largely an instanced world with lobby town type game as opposed to a huge open world mmo.

However.... unlike most instance with lobby games, this game actually uses it to do things you couldn't have in an open world setting. You can actually set up your own areas with its own rulesets. For example you can open up your own hardcore public pvp league. They plan on creating more possible league options in the future for more different rulesets so you can choose what kind of game you want to play.

    MMO elements:

    World Chat.

    Party System.

    PvP system (very minimal)

    Shiny Loots (more rpg element)

    Player Trade

End Game Randomized* Maps (variations of maps with different status/monster effects or weakened player effects)

    Most important element:

    Fun

    Hope this helps.

Playing Path of Exile and deeply in love with it.

Its not an MMORPG at all..

I guess you could think of it like the origional guild wars but in a top down diablo style mode... i know this has been said over and over but it really is what diablo 3 should have been.

Anyway the game is totally free to play so just give it a go you have nothing to loose.. of course if you hate diablo type games then dont bother LOL
