How do i watch the TV-series?

timtracktimtrack Member UncommonPosts: 541

As i understand it, the TV-series and the game will be knit together. It gives the impression that it would be important to watch each episode as soon as possible when it's released to get the full effect of this experiment. However, i don't see a way to ever watch the show from Sweden, or from most other parts of the world, without acces to SyFy channel. Did i miss a memo saying that the show will be available online without region lock? Or are they actually going to go with only showing it on their TV-channel in specific regions?

Surely i must have missed something in this revolutionary development?

Some channels will put there episodes online after they air, such is the case with a show I watch called Dual survivor on the discovery channel.  Each episode that is played on national Television, about a day later it ends up on there website and is free to watch although there is some comercials that keep repeating its in Hi definition and all that so its cool.

There are a lot of various websites online that will stream the shows live as well,  its very simple to record tv shows with software.

That's a nice offer, but i'm more interested in how they are approaching this than me missing a show. I'll probably find a way if i'm interested enough. Are they going to keep making the same old mistakes where they region lock and limit this thing, thus encourage pirating/alternative methods, and then claim they "lost" $millions?

Unfortunately you might just be screwed, unless theres a station local to you that works with SyFy to air their programs in your region. I doubt Trion really has much pull in the global television market though.

Also I don't think one is required to get full benefit of the other. At the GenCon panel I believe it was, it was stated that one could be enjoyed fully without the other.

You have a misconception about this.

You do not have to watch one and play the other.

    It is not required.

You will not miss anything other than mentions of events that happened in one or the other.

Watching tv shows on your computer is not a hard issue. You can easily search for a certain magnet/torrent site that has links for tv shows only. It is very...ez.

The show and game take place in 2 different cities. The only thing that will cross over are some characters and mention of events that take place in the other is what I remember reading.

They made the game capable of being independent of the TV show, since it is more likely that the TV show will fail before the game does.

We all know the SyFy channels record with hit TV shows. They develope a cult following that sin't quite large enough to support the show, then the show gets cancelled. Crossing my fingers that this show will not only be good, but will be at least a couple seasons.

Looking online at the man behind the show since I did not recognize the name, Rockne S. O'Bannon. But turns out he was a writer, and actually sold some scripts to TV shows "Amazing Stories", and "The Twilight Zone" in 1985 while he was still in school, he was hired awhile later by "The Twilight Zone" as a writer after they bought a second story from him.

He also worked on "V", "FarScape", and "Seaquest DSV", has a couple of film credits too, but I can't say I have seen them, I was just looking at the shows I hve actually seen.

Seems like the TV show could have some potential, and Trion worlds "Rift" is a pretty good game, I only played it for a short time, due to circumstances not related to the game.

    Not so nice guy!
