I have been reading alittle about defiance, and the arhkfall events. They sound similar to the rifts that open around the maps of Telara, is this a fair comparison? Are there many other similarities between these 2 Trion games?
Also remember that while they are made by the same company (Trion) they are made by different studios with offices in different parts of the world.
As far as I can tell, Trion was Texas based, invented server back-end software and then got a ton of venture capital to make some games with the tech. Then they set up studios in bay area and in San Diego. Bay area studio made rift and San Diego was making Defiance. The 3rd game was being made by another company, Petroglyph, which was former EA employees laid off after EA closed westwood studios. That was in Vegas and it was making End of Nations, but they had layoffs and that project has since been moved in-house to San Diego.
If anything Defiance and End of Nations are now being made by people in the same building. Maybe even by the same people. I also read something that indicated that people from the Rift project may be spending time working on End of Nations.

I think only similarity is that they are both made by same company
other than that, one is a shooter and one is an RPG so they wont be too similar
