    Kids certainly play MMO's

But ID checks are very tricky. Kids can get credit cards and find the answers to any questions posed with a goggle.

I have noticed we don't have many players speaking in my outfit in PS2. Then we had a few with very squeaky voices, I did not have the heart to report them. But they could not be a day over 12.

If I was that age I would be doing everthing to get to play the games I wanted to, thats the reality.

I voted yes, but not because I think children (and a lot of adults) should be sheltered. To paraphrase a quote I heard before: "You cannot resist temptation if you have never been exposed to it."

That being said, the reason I voted yes is because it's not children who need to be protected in this case. Who is it who gets in trouble when a child gets their hands on something that is clearly marked to not be sold to them? Is it the irresonsible parental unit? No. It's the retailer, the publisher, the developer. There are two possible solutions to this problem: either reform the public mindset to be more personally responsible, teach children to become good adults without crippling them with overprotective sheltering, and actually read what's on the goddamn box, or develop a more robust age gate system.

Personally I'd like for the former to happen, but accept the latter is more feasible.

Game is rated m, it should be for adults.

It glorifies the objectification of women and is not for kids.

Asking that a company take measures to ensure the game is actually getting to the crowd that it is meant for (m rating fellers) is a no brainer, and is NOT censorship like so many here apparently claim.

INB4 H8, but a 0.05$ charge (or your regional equivalent) to a credit card that is refundable to download the launcher would greatly reduce the amount of children in this MATURE game. It may reduce the amount of people willing to play that ARE of age, but whatever they can suck an egg. If this were used the child would have to steal their parents credit card or ask them for it, and if the parent allows them to use it no questions asked then they are extremely bad parents. If the child steals the card and uses, and if the parents are anything like me (aka go through cc statements like actual smart people to make sure there are no strange things going on) and see SCARLET BLADE or AERIA GAMES, and ask around the household, and possibly go on the childs computer and boot it up..... IDK what the launcher looks like hold on let me google it...... yep looked up and the child would be SCREWWED.

And furthermore to those saying watch over your own children and etc, if you remember back to your childhood if you had parents like that, always lording/watching/protecting, you likely are not on the best terms anymore. No matter how you look at it, you could never ever be on them all the time and know everything.

Also this is coming from a person who thinks this game is garbage, but will stand by the reason of letting the RIGHT people play it.

If ultraviolent games with realistic gore and spurting arteries can get by with lame useless "age checks" and a toggle to turn gore on and off, I don't see why this should be any different... but hey, this is mostly a NA forum refecting NA values about what is considered porn: violence and gore are bad, but sex is the worst... people in NA just need to get laid more.

Also... do you guys seriously think that your 13-yr old doesn't know that youporn exists? Give your heads a shake. They're just good at hiding what they want to hide from you... just like you were at their age.

Good parenting does not mean obsessive and overbearing parenting, but neither does it mean attacking everything that the parents believe their children shouldn't be exposed to - particularly in cases where it's the parents' fault (exemplified by practically every case that Jack Thompson flung at the courts like some incontinent monkey) .

Now I can't say what good parenting is - if I could I would pad it with two hundred pages of platitudes and statistics to sound all proper, then sell the damn thing - but I'll go out on a limb and say neither of the two aforementioned methods can be considered good or healthy parenting.

There are already agencies in various countries that rate games,so it is out there.

Where the problem begins is once you get into some foreign countries.

Example China and japan have some old fashion morals which is a good thing, they also some some different restrictions on religion and rights than over here, some are good some we might question.

Then we have some real offbeat countries that allow 14 year olds to be married, males can have several wives and treat them like slaves. Some of those countries also give the women no rights,so ya i guess i mentioned slaves.

    Then we have Korea.

This country allows underage women to perform in night clubs, most of their biggest acts have scantily clad young teenage girls performing. They obviously have a bunch of old 50+ pervs running their laws and government.

However for sake of argument, since these games are released here in the USA and Canada/Europe,they should have sufficient laws and guidelines surrounding them.

Remember this, most of what you see can be seen on your public beeches. It is all in how it is presented or portrayed.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

No, what you should be saying is that not only is it intolerable that children can access this kind of material, AND ultraviolent games. One is not ok because the other exists.   As you say, children will hide this stuff, and it is the responsibility of parents (and indeed all adults in a community) to react - and hey guess what thats what you have here - a reaction.

Maybe people would get 'laid' more if they did not watch porn play scantly dressed avatars of questionable age in a game where there are certainly children playing.

    rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar

Now playing GW2, AOW 3, ESO, LOTR, Elite D

    1) Age of consent has always been rather arbitrary, it's only been raised because people are living longer, but from the 13th to 19th century Europe (and its colonies, which includes America) set the age of consent at 10~12. Now I'm not saying this was right, as I'm of the opinion a majority of the population can be immature well into their 20s (call me a cynic), but you should keep in mind 14 isn't unreasonable considering historical trends. Maybe you can call them backwards for not updating their standards to reflect modern age expectancy, but do also remember most of humanity also clings to religious beliefs that have hardly been updated in a thousand years. Everybody's backwards to some degree.

    2) Look, there's nothing wrong with polygamy. Treating people like slaves (which happens in monogamy as well, idly) is wrong, obviously, but monogamy is a cultural standard imposed on society for no other reason than that's what the dominant religion/popular opinion supports. The only argument I would make against polygamy is that if a man should be allowed to have multiple wives, then a woman should be allowed to have multiple husbands, but then there's this odd pervasive sexist standard than a guy who bangs lots of girls is a stud, but a girl who bangs lots of guys is a slut.

Don't disagree with your other points, though I do want to point out that I don't believe Japan has morality laws. They have some outdated censorship laws, but things like age of consent (which is 15, iirc), entertainment industry putting underaged girls in skimpy clothes, treatment of actresses/singers/idols are all on par with South Korea.

I picked the last one :) I remember watching porn when I was 12-13, so what xD .. you wont stop that on the internet. My kids will do it and yours too ... and you bet that is 100% true, if not in home, then in school with friends or on tablet, smartphone.

Stop being so serious .. really ...

so,,you want less pixel porn, and more REAL children?

a brilliant plan,,we were getting short on kids with no future

To be honest the people who get upset about games like scarlet blade scare me more than the guy running around naked in game. Someone is sexually repressing something and it's bloody obvious.

Wow you're a tool dude, get a life, get a girlfriend, play a real game, go complain about something meaningful in life other than a stupid game you should never have even installed. Fuckin' perv.

I think SB is way over the top with it's skin showing game and personally have no desire to play it (I don't mind a bit of skin mind you but they've gone way up over the top).

That said, it's up to parents to patrol their computers, cells etc. Lock them down and step up to block what they decide is not appropriate for their kids. Will that stop the kids from going to their friends? No. But if each person did their own part it would help over time.

showing skin is "over the top" but the sick violence in other games isnt?

this is adult rated material,,seeing , what other games can get away with at lower PG rating,

    scarlet blade is VERY innocent

Little timmy saw a pair of jiggly boobs,,CALL THE COPS

Little timmy is shooting other soldiers in an urban setting,,business as usual

there has just been another shooting spree,,i wonder why?
