Being that the account is technically their property, I don't think they have to comply with your request. Nothing requires you to play their game though, so I guess I don't understand the problem.

Change your password to a random collection of letters and the email address to a fake, then forget about it
  • tawesstawess Member EpicPosts: 4,227

Most of the time you need to send a physical letter with your information and a request for your account to be closed.

    Have you tried that?

    Beyond that.. you are SoL

This have been a good conversation

Someone is attempting to make this a bigger deal than it is. Seriously, if you don't like the game...just stop playing it. Change your password to something you think you will forget, and move on with your life.

That's the f2p way - they never delete accounts and there is no inactve / active status.   Just delete all your payment options and delete all personal data you can.

Other than that if you really want to get rid of all your data from this company - I don't know, you would have to ask consumer organisations or goverment office in your country that deal with personal information laws - if you can force them to delete account you created.

i have never heard of companies deleting accounts you made with them. they always hang on to the records. and for that "f2p way" stuff, that includes p2p games.

yeah it's their data on their servers. The only thing you technically own is the box / cd if you bought one. Sometimes even those aren't available anymore. I always wondered how the 'key' you purchased would factor in legally as it signifies your purchase of the account.

Can't change my email in the site and   Yes they can't fulfill my request. And not just because i don't want to play the game, but because i don't want be part of the system in any way.

Look at his past posts..this is just another one of his rants. Guy has been bashing this game since he created that account, and now he decides he doesn't want any part in it?

Turbine still has game account data for Asheron's Call from when Microsoft owned it. Corporations don't delete customer information.

So if you get mad at your high school do you think they will delete your school records?  Will your doctor delete your medical records if you ask?  When you switch banks, do they delete all records of ever having your account?

What you are asking is totally unreasonable and you are acting like a spoiled child.  You signed up for a free to play game, you didnt like it, now move on.  If you can not change your email address in their system which I honestly feel is either stupidity on your part or a flat out lie, just block any email from red5 and you dont have to worry about any spam.  What are you honestly worried about?  Do you think red5 is going to track you down by your email address and touch your no-no spot?  I'm sure a person you have signed up for other games in your life and stopped playing those games.  Did you ask all those other companies to remove any record of your existence?

If you didnt like the game, make a post and list the reasons why.  If you are just going to make ridiculous requests and then bash Red5 for not bending over for you while you were holding a cucumber, you are only going to get laughed at here.

    sup, im lawmaster 5000

wat u wana do is get a notary public, serve the corporation a notice of understanding an intent, the game is a license yes, so if the game is an agent of u, u must have the right to destroy it, cuz in law anything represented can be done by the principle to the agent ya?

    makes sense ?

k so after u notice them they r not being smart, serve them a notice of claim of right..

tellem u claim it as a right to be able to remove urself from any contract when instructed to or u deem fit.. its free world ? yes?

if they dont remove u they r liable for ur property, say 500$ a day till they remove it..

k so notarize that itll cost like 100$ keep original serve copys

sign stamp autograph it with a proper title not the legal name..

    do u know ur title?

just elect urself authorized representitive to all capacities assosiatiated with u..

i mess with blizzard like this they wont even talk to me anymore

they say talk to our legal department n they never reply

    silence equals consent in law

    <3 hope this helps

Exactly, i tried to have my SOE accnt deleted with no avail. i got response like what you said "this accnt is the property of SOE and will not be deleted on anyone's request. it can only be banned if the person in charge of taking care of the accnt breaks any rule with EULA and ToS".

Actually I got all my medical records from when I changed a doctor some time ago. All of them - they don't have any copy left. They even pulled my old files from 10 years ago for me.

Some companies actually delete you info, if you ask them to.   Some others in some cases can be forced to do so (depending on laws of your country).   Of course there will be many (most actually) that will refuse to do so.

Your personal information is still your personal information in some countries.

I believe they have to delete your personal information if you request it, but the account itself is not yours.

Even it's a Free to play an account is property of an owner, and an account's prorpertes to give access to their system and them to my email, that mean any yahoo can send me any thing and invite me to any thing from their forum and they them self can send me things, and don't want spam from them. And yes they   haven't got any change email or stop email options. And the account is inactive in the closed beta and soon it will active because of the open beta. And let no remind  you that every account in the system is support for them. And it's my property  as i said and i have the choice to delete if i want. And last thing!Facebook and even perfect world allow the full deletion of an account. That only show me that are truly making the worst mmo and game i ever seen and played. But also shows you that the have truly distrustful  practices,as can not delete one account.

You are new to the internet aren't you?

Ok let me break it  to you. They have no obligation to do shit about your request. Read the terms and conditions that you signed.

If they want to delete your account they will do it when they deem it appropriate not when you want.

Other than that google, yahoo, facebook and every other social network including all the credit cards companies that you have ever used have everything stored that you ever typed, bought including your personal info and they share them whenever it's convinient.

You don't like to be part of the system, go offline and become a hermit.

    bullshit!

I delete an old account whiche i didn't know the password in SOE.

  • KarahandrasKarahandras Member UncommonPosts: 1,703

But then how would they count you as part of their 'registered users' numbers?

As others have said try requesting that they delete your personal information and so on.

It took some blackmailing, and other assorted threats. But, yes, to all three.
