But that is the thing, they cannot still call it a Beta and, AND take money for it, once they start taking money and making profit it is in actuality a RELEASE. So what if its buggy and very exploitable, if you knew about the exploits and could make real money from it, I will 100% guarantee that you WOULD exploit.
Now they can say its illegal and should not be done, you can say it was there its in the game (even though not intentionally) and you used it, hell if I knew and could make money that way I would. Aint my problem, and that's what happens if you charge real money for a game you say is still beta. Peeps will try to make money off it and wouldn't give a cotton smook what it did to the community, that's why after BETA's usually finish and bugs (like this) are fixed THERE ARE SERVER WIPES.
Thesedays companies don't really give a flying fook and are just after your cash, as quickly and as fast as they can get it, this goes for single player games too, this is why I do download games and playtest them BEFORE I buy (but have not done that much these past few yrs cos I tend to stay with monthly subscription games and play them only).
Do I agree with piracy - Not really, would I do it if I could - your damn right I will.
Do I agree with exploiting bugs - no I don't, would I do it if I could if I could make money from it - hell yes I would.

Originally posted by khartokhar3 wipe would be crap. they would loose to many palyers. just try to get the exploiters banned.
The AD has been laundered though. It is everywhere. Innocent people have fake AD and exploiters have AD. The problem is that the exploiters found an exploit that completely destroys the economy. Would bans fix all the alts and thousands of people with fake AD? would you be able to sort out who was innocent and who was not?
Here is where I posted the hint of this bug a few hours ago before it actually got public and became this big:
Posted at (5/19/13 10:21:00 AM) much before the exploit got public.
"I also noticed when I posted some end game gear in the auction house which I got from delves chests, they were not found from the search and thus I lost the exchange fee and after 4 days none got sold. I did give out a buyout also and from another account and the gateway I checked and my end game gear was not found. This is so weird.
There is some unscrupulous activity throughout the game which you cannot pin-point but it exists.
They should do a roll-back and then replace the purchases of players like us who actually got exploited with this buggy game and lost their real life money. This is just pure shame.

I'd be more pissed about a rollback than an exploit that doesn't even effect me. I guarantee the majority of players don't even know there was an exploit, let alone care.
My money is on most of the "wipe the server" poll results are people who hate/don't play the game.
+1 Totally agree. I didn't know there was an exploit until about an hour before shards went down and I played well into the morning(EST) last night. If this has been common knowledge for 12 hours, I must protest...not quite common kowledge. I don't even care about this exploit, it hasn't effected my gameplay. I am starting to get the feeling that most of those complaining are somehow involved in this exploit. I mean on NW forums there are people complaining about the money spend on founder packs when they are not even founders. On NW forums if you are a founder, it is labeled by your name. These people complaining about their $200 that they did not even spend are probably the same ones complaining about the exploit they participated in. Also can we note, there are exploits and bugs in all games (to varying degrees). If they rollback these servers they are pushing consequences on the innocent, who just want to continue playing and developing their characters. They idea that MMOs are now competitive is what has caused this issue to begin with. Just enjoy the game people. If you use exploits, you are only ruining the game for yourself, and now that you are complaining on every forum, others as well...
Not true, i am a founder, the founder title for the forums had to be manually activated.
edit: and those screaming they don't want a rollback probably got rich in AD from exploiting themselves

Oh, my mistake.
But why do you assume that people who don't want a rollback got rich from exploits? I certainly did not. I have 130k AD...116k coming from a crafting resource I sold from that one quest. But I have spent a lot of time on my character and more importantly to me, my foundry.

I am playing and spending money on this game because to me it is the best mmo I have played since my very first one. Even with all the flaws of a newly released mmo and the added unfinished state of the open beta/soft launch or however you want to call it. It matches my current playstyle perfectly and because of that I want this game to succeed. I don't know how massive the problem is, but I do know that as long as they would refund the spend zen (not the real money) and are able to make the game better and more secure, then I would not mind a complete wipe of all my characters.
I don't mind starting over if it means the game gets improved because of it. From what I hear the economy is completely destroyed atm and no rollback or banning of exploiters would solve it enough. It a wipe is needed, I would welcome it.
Would I be happy with a wipe? Not really, but if it is the best option I am fine with it. The game has only been out a short while for an mmo, so it is easy enough to get things back to where they are now, with the added bonus that you know the game better while leveling up again.
I'd be more pissed about a rollback than an exploit that doesn't even effect me. I guarantee the majority of players don't even know there was an exploit, let alone care.

Ummm.... Let's see, the game (all servers) ran out of Zen because trillions of AD was mass produced and flooded the markets AND you think it doesn't affect you? LOL wow you be in a dream world!
I just like the idea of a complete rollback but they've stolen so much money from a lot of people who love the cash shop model that they really can't do that. Well they could but would have to refund everything!! Could work I suppose. Anyways this game with more classes, a cheaper more effective cash shop with a emphasis on balance all across could be really successful I believe.
Unfortunately, if you're Cryptic a rollback is far more likely to compound your problems than simply to go on a banning crusade and issuing a slew of mea culpas. A wipe essentially wastes the entire playerbase's time and effort, inflicting a lot of collateral damage on people who didn't exploit. On the other hand, even an ineffectual mass banning makes it look as if the company is trying to fix its problems without punishing all its players.

screw a wipe why should we be made to suffer..for assholes that did this....hell i didnt even know of a exploit anyways was to much into questing and killing stuff.. those who played on a fair field and did it legit shouldnt have to suffer with there toon being wiped...just track down the idiots that did this and do a perm ban on them ....don't make us legit players pay for there mistakes
At level 13 I used the free 150 zen and purchased one key. I got a nightmare mount. If they roll back the servers, all of us who got a nightmare the legit way are going to be furious.

Meh... The leak will be plugged, some of the worst offenders will be banned, the rest might get a slap on the wrist and in a few weeks the majority of the players will have forgotten about this in any way that matters and by the launch of the game it will be remembered as "that time you know"
That is how it always goes. It might be called Astral-gate by the ones who like to seem in the know but all in all it will not do much.
What they should be doing is resetting the game back, re-imbursing people that actually spent money on zen, and starting over. It's going to anger a lot of people, but Cryptic screwed the pooch on this one. This was a colossal error on their part, and there's really no 'good' solution other than to just say 'hey, we screwed up, we're starting over, here's your money'.
What Cryptic is actually doing, appears to be trying to ban anyone involved in this exploit, which in reality is quite a large chunk of their playerbase. You'd think companies would learn by now that mass banning for situations like this are the absolute worst move you can make. Ban the more serious offender, and then reset your game because it is in critical right now. Banning 30-60% of your playerbase will not fix that, lol.

1.I get cheated for buying the founder's pack ($60)

I was expecting the same. That's not what appears to be happening.
A lot of people I know got banned. Some tested the exploit once (on themselves) to see if it was true and then reported the exploit straight away. Some didn't exploit at all, but were actually victimized by it (someone bid negative on their items and they lost the items they were auctioning).
Atm it seems all of these people have been perma banned. So much for beta being about reporting & fixing problems.
