Best FFXIV community sites?

KurushKurush Member Posts: 1,303

Hey.  While I do like MMORPG.com, I was wondering what you guys feel are the best community sites for FFXIV?  The places where the core of the community gathers?

I think this would be a good reference for others, too.

i think this is the largest and the oldest one, and they have the most members too to help you with your questions

    So What Now?

FFXIVcore.com used to be one of the best.  Though it was taken down by Curse just a few days ago and made into a sort of wiki, it seems.

The old community that belonged to core is now at:  http://corerefugees.enjin.com/home

Besides that, you could also try to see what FFXIVRealm.com is up to.  Though as was said above, the biggest community was in the core until it was shut down (not sure how many actually transferred over to their new site above).

The remnants of FFXIVcore are still on facebook as well:  www.facebook.com/ffxivcore

Due to frequent travel in my youth, English isn't something I consider my primary language (and thus I obtained quirky ways of writing).  German and French were always easier for me despite my family being U.S. citizens for over a century.  Spanish I learned as a requirement in school, Japanese and Korean I acquired for my youthful desire of anime and gaming (and also work now).  I only debate in English to help me work with it (and limit things).  In addition, I'm not smart enough to remain fluent in everything and typically need exposure to get in the groove of things again if I haven't heard it in a while.  If you understand Mandarin, I know a little, but it has actually been a challenge and could use some help.

Also, I thoroughly enjoy debates and have accounts on over a dozen sites for this.  If you wish to engage in such, please put effort in a post and provide sources -- I will then do the same with what I already wrote (if I didn't) as well as with my responses to your own.  Expanding my information on a subject makes my stance either change or strengthen the next time I speak of it or write a thesis.  Allow me to thank you sincerely for your time.

With the official forums and the lodestone those are the most active community sites by far.

It is definitely where the core of the community gathers outside of the game.

True, but if you weren't a paying player up through the end of September or currently in the beta, there's no way to access those forums.  It's good to have an alternative site to discuss things.  I tend to see different discussions on the independent fansites than on the Lodestone, so that's a plus for me.

http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/ should be a good one. The've been covering online ff since way back ffxi. They have a dedicated podcast you can listen to that's been around for years. They just changed websights from what they were. Its a giant wiki like site.

Its actually a joint group from petfoodalpha and limitbreak radio. Those were really good community sights for ffxi. and im sure gamerescape will be just as good for ff14.
