Well that's quite simple actually. We're gamers. We thrive in conflict.

EDIT: Just to note, that the above statement does not give anyone the justification to argue with me, it simply illustrates the reasoning why some people would choose to be wrong, and that they are just instinctively being contradictory.  So judge them not on their supposed "point" regardless of how meaningless it may seem.

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.

I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.

I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.

When the only metric is number of people who purchased the game its not a lie to say steady growth.

They also have never mentioned concurrent players since the first week of launch, this is also not a lie.

Nothing beats ea and swtor for massaging figures though

"we know you quit, but have a free month anyway"

"no unsubscribe me, I don't want to play your bloody game"

"  When asked about perhaps taking Guild Wars 2 into the free to play market, Johanson responded that, while nothing is ruled out completely, the team doesn't feel that this is a market that has to be jumped into at this time.  "

    - LOLOLOLOLOL

So the game just drops it's box price and it becomes a cash shop based game???????

How is not already a cash shop based game that has a box price?

  • I'm sure the game is "growing" in the sense that more boxes keep getting sold. Bet the number of unique logins per day is decreasing, though.

To above poster - it's not free to play since you have to pay for the box.

Clearly a game can only be successful if some bean counter says it is.  Don't trust your own instincts... ignore your own observations... when it comes to game populations, never trust your own eyes.  WoW has over 8 million subs... that means you are always online when they are not.  This is important... there are more players than just you, you just happen to play at the wrong times.

Remember... figures don't lie but liars figure.

Numbers are meaningless... unless they are all there online with you, they might as well not exist.  So yeah, boast on the success of your game... you're still pretty much playing solo.  Game only needs one sub or active account for that... just you.

GW2 is NOT growing. Using statistics of people buying the game does NOT mean its getting more players, considering it doesn't mean its counting the 5 that quit in their place. Add in that rather using terms like "Rapid Growth" or anything else, its using marketting terms of up play the numbers while also not making it an outright lie. The benefit with a B2P game is they can technically 'claim' more people are playing since they don't need to rely on players subbing as the 'how many are playing' statistic.

That being said, it doesn't necessarily mean its not doing good. Its population could be mostly steady and it could be generating revenue. Gamble boxes tend to drain a lot of money for the gambling suckers (sorry, that is how companies view you and its why a good majority of games do them now) trying their luck.  Still, its quite silly to look at marketting terms and try and use them as a defense. Companies lie and manipulate their wording to give an appearance off. Remember all those SWTOR statistics? Heck, remember when the banks were all honky dory and then all of a sudden "Oh we need money, we threw our selves off a cliff"? Trying to defend a game without MEANINGFUL statistics is not going to prove anything.

...and $10 off getting to the price of a normal pc game being some revolutionary thing that will attract tons of new players still makes me chuckle. :)

So you think it's silly but I don't see your "proof" that it isn't growing. It's posts like yours that make me laugh. The very thing you bash others for you do yourself.

I don't disagree with you I don't think the game is growing as far as the number of players in game.  However, I'd call mine a gut feel. I really have no proof. As far as the company revenue is  concerned sure each new box sold is growth.

As a separate issue there are things they can do to get more people in game an expansion is certainly one that does both increase revenue and get more people in game. Looks like someone there as wised up to that. Hopefully it isn't a rush job.

Hopefully this will get some people in the leveling zones. Unfortunately, GW2 is going to look bad if they bring in new players, and those players cant find anyone to play with in the leveling content.

I dunno the leveling pve is pretty fun. Well the outdoor bits anyway, much prefered it to the quest hub style. I think gw2 and tsw did one great thing last year between them, they killed that mindless quest hub crap.

If WvW was better I would probably play it.

What is your problem with WvW?  You do pretty much face the same opponents now and there are tons of rivalry existing between servers and guilds now.  You need to join your server's website and VOIP to get the coordination and strategy going on in wvw.

I played the game launch plus 2 months then stopped could not log in WvW was long queues then generally a zerg experience, with PvE in this game as average. That said I recently began playing again within the last couple weeks on my alt ranger, was having fun but I kept asking myself where is everyone, WvW was an insta Q and no overflows for zones. People here kept saying they are all in Southsun so I hopped on my 80 and went down that way, it was almost as dead as the other zones, this was at 6 pm EST, I don't know if the game is growing but my eyes and common sense say no. My server btw says Very High (Gates of Madness).

ANd the guild I just joined is growing 2-5 members a week without trying. I guess we all have different experiences.

This title is fast falling down the hole that Diablo III traversed, with things like DR lackluster content, loot manipulation, lots of items for people to purchase tho, they always take great care with the store only lottery boxes and items. yeah.

LS is nowhere near the content it should be and it's temporary, it's no different the vaporware.

Not sure why anyone would call this game a ghost town.  They are probably not playing the game.  No matter what level zone I am in, I always see other players around.  I still sometimes even end up in an overflow instance.

I'm extremely happy with Guild Wars 2. It's reached the point where I can't see myself playing any other MMORPG that doesn't provide similar features. In my view, Arenanet just did everything right. There are so many different ways to play, and level your character.

If you like Story, there are about 5 to choose from, and there are some branching choices within those stories as well.

If you like PVP, there is instant PVP from the minute you log into the game, you like World Vs World they have that as well. Exploring? Gotcha...great experience and equipment from that style of play. Crafting? Hell you can level up to 80 doing nothing but crafting (if you could get the materials).

The graphics are also gorgeous, the best I have seen in an MMO, really. Bar none. I have not seen any shortage of players and groups , or guilds on my server Ehmry Bay.

I think you must be trolling. I am almost level 80 and I have never bought anything from the Item Shop to assist my gameplay.

In fact in my view the Trading Post system is incredible. Sell from anywhere, buy from anywhere, and collect from brokers throughout the game world. Brilliant, I can't see myself using an MMO without that ability now, it just seems so right! And it keeps the trading post constantly stocked and growing. Why vendor or destroy items, when it's so easy to provide them for other players for a profit!
