Neverwinter most definitely should be there. If only from the crowd of D&D fans since that game is an abomination for those D&D fans that followed the game since launch. Of which most don't even post on the forums anymore and how there was so much chargebacks that PWE made a statement.
The game might be a really good F2P game but for the D&D fans it is a desecration of the beloved IP.
Ironic how they made a statement that it's for D&D fans when it clearly is not and is for the generic MMO powergamer crowd.
so true kind sir! been waiting for years and all i get is bloody themepark.
I have played these games. These games are ULTRA fun compared to: Rift, WoW, DayZ, and Dr. Sugimoto's Lecherous Treatment. All of the games I just mentioned are of the same quality and depth as one another. (Which is to say they are all of poor quality and have no depth.) Oh, and just incase you were praying for Dragons Prophet, it is another WoW clone. (CLONE as in carbon copy.)
Our review is still forthcoming on Scarlet Blade, but we’re putting it on this list because well... even if the game was a stunning achievement of MMO design and depth, we’d still find it shockingly and face-palmingly shallow in its audacious attempt at gaining players by appealing to the hentai-lover in us all... if there is a such a thing.'
I find this a silly reason to put this game on a 'worst MMO' list. Whether you like the sexualised design or not, it is still just personal preference. Not to mention the lame contradiction in the underlined part.
But I guess it is the political correct reaction to such a game I think there are two signs of immaturity. One that makes your jaw drop at pixelated boobs as if you haven't seen them before and one that makes you react as if you are so called 'better' then that (while watching porn if you are alone and think no one is watching ). So hypocrite.
Why can't you just review a game on its own merits. Look at what the devs are trying to achieve and review it based on that.
Um...because obviously the game designers didnt think to just build/sell their game on the merits of the mechanics...
Are you new to advertising? It is obvious they used 'mature' content as selling point. This, however, says nothing about the quality of the game. It is kind of silly to start about that now, while any rpg that puts a (NAKED) huge dragon on the front of the box, is obviously a bad game too according to your logic. Or any CGI trailer for a game should be immediate sign for failure, because they obviously don't show any gameplay.
At least this was a good list of total failure games. I got to say the comments about scarlet blade were spot on, and I have to ask why on earth are you guys still running them.
War Z yea man that was bad too lol I think you went easy on them op.

Truely agree with you on this, i dont say Scarlet Blade is an awsome mmo, but still at average and far from worst...

SW:TOR should be here. The fact that it was on the "Best MMOs of 2013" blew my mind. Bioware and the Star Wars IP were totally wasted in making this game. Star Wars with no space elements besides a mini game that most of the general population avoid, isn't a Star Wars MMO in my opinion. Not only that but they had a reported 200-250 million to use on this project and they decide to use the Hero Engine? Like what the hell? Some extremely poor choices were made that make this game not fun to play. You can have all the voice acting in the world, but in the end SW:TOR is just a soulless themepark that basically copies WoW.
Neverwinter should be on this list. Boring as hell. Too easy. Bland. If it were any more minimalist it would be minesweeper.

Besides all the bugs/exploits plaguing it, the game has horrible qualities.
PVE Endgame is attrocious, where the developer's only means of boss strategies, is "more adds, more health".
Classes are insanely unbalanced, wherein Great Weapon fighter is the lowest damage potential across the board, and a Guardian Fighter is slotted for DPS over tanking, since aggro tables are screwed beyond reason.
Neverwinter deserves an Honorable Mention on this list atleast, rather than trying to cover it up with all the launch hype, which ask any player from day one, was awful.
I played Asura Force for a while a few months back. In terms of mechanics, it's rather solid. Everything pretty much seems to work as intended. At mid-level it is by far the slowest most grindy game I've ever played. It even has built in botting so you don't have to manually grind, you just sit there watching it grind for you.
One the other hand, it does run reasonably well on my system. That's more than I can say for SWTOR.

Strangely, there's far less "my favorite game should totally be on this list".
The "best of" thread got universal derision from both the Outraged Fanboys and the Negativity Preachers.
This one, I suspect will only run half as many pages.
OTOH, it is clear license for venom release, and that's always fun, right?
Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.
No one is really saying it's worthy of best mmo of 2013 ( although some would I'm sure) It's putting a game you've never played on the worst list that doesn't sit well with people who were expecting a serious "review" from a professional. Your attempts to back track out of what you did say ( there's no misinterpreting it ) Isn't helping.
Not back-tracking, explaining the reason for its inclusion. I've read our staff's previews, talked with our writers who've played it, and all seem to agree: it's schlocky at best, regardless of its veneer.
If you're a fan, I apologize. But I'll stand by its inclusion here, based merely on what it represents: a cheap, base, gimmick of a hook.
I think our point was that the cheap base gimmick of a hook is besides the point whether it is a good game or not (like you wrote in your article). If it turns out to be a bad game, like you are now suggesting (and not in the article), then that should originally be given as a reason. Because the list is supposed to be about good and bad games. Not about sleazy marketing.
And even if I were a fan, you wouldn't have to apologize for your opinion about anything.
Again I agree. I don't care that it's on the list. Just why it was put there...or at least the original reason.
Scarlet Blade has it's selling points. ( Y ) Left and right are two that come to mind.

I don't care if you love or despise scantily clad exaggerated females or not, inclusion on this list should be based on the results of a review, and if you haven't reviewed it and yet denounce it, you have failed as a reviewer.
At this point, all you can actually complain about is the advertising campaign Scarlet Blade has been running on this site. Last time I checked, nobody payed much attention to the claims of marketing. GO AND PLAY THE GAME BEFORE DECLARING IT HORRIBLE !!!
Come on, this is one of the most basic thing regarding reviews, you actually have to try it before you can review it. Sheesh, otherwise you are just bad-mouthing something you haven't even tried, and that is, at best, just gossip.
That's exactly the thought that ran through my mind when reading this. I thought that maybe the people writing isn't the same people deciding what ads should be running on the site though.
Actually this has been confirmed by staff, the team managing the business side has nothing to do with the editorial content, so that does explain the disconnect.
This, a thousand times this. The owners handle all the ads, and leave me and our editorial staff to do anything at all we wish with the content. There are many emails when Craig/Ben and I have had to set the record straight with PR, marketing, etc. Editorial is separate from ads, and we can't be expected to avoid negative opinions just because you bought ads on the site.
Though some would love to believe that our writers are "bought and paid for", nothing is further from the truth.
Regardless the "bought and paid for" comments that's actually pretty stupid people might think that way, it shouldn't be in the list due to the arguments given in the OP. It should be in the list only if it was fully reviewed and not based pure on the silly adds. There are plenty of "silly" adds with great product behind them. Definitly not saying Scarlet Blade is great as I have no idea or intrest in the game, there for I could only say that but could never put it on a bad game list because I havn't played it.
Puts Scarlet Blade on the Worst MMO's of 2013 so far list and produces numerous articles denouncing it for obvious reasons; continues to run ads for the game all over so that I can't look at the website with my family in the room. Dafuq MMORPG?
It doesn't seem right for this reviewer to put Scarlet Blade as #2 worst after admitting they didn't even review the game yet. It's just not fair. On a side note, I only got the play the try the game a couple of times because there is no way my kids or girlfriend are gonna catch me running around in one of those avatars...

I hate to compare, but I really wish you guys would adopt a format more like Massively. There are virtually zero advertisements on Massively, and certainly not the annoying full page ads. It looks clean and professional. There also seems to be far less shitposting there in my experience. I like the writers on both sites, but Massively looks way way better IMO.
Seriously you Bill even played WarZ lately? If bad launch is requirement how about Neverwinter? Also Scarlet Blade is better than average asian MMO which isn't much to say. Your bashing sounds typical american crap where part nudity is worst than people getting shotted.

The reviewer played Wizardly for 10 mins tops
The mistakes of WarZ were magnified due to the popularity of Dayz thus resulting in baised reviews or (DayZ fanboi hate)
