Who is the best developer of MMO, Asian  or  American in coming  2013 to 2014?

I read an article on the differences between Asian and American MMOs. The only difference that I remember in particular was the control scheme, where Asian MMOs tended to allow for only using the mouse, and clicking hot bar buttons, while American MMOs tended towards having two hands to play. The reason was that Asian players have a much higher chance of being smokers, and requiring two hands interfered with smoking. This would hurt the MMOs chances of adoption, so they geared themselves towards one handed play.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

So those Asian buggers are defeating me one handed? Maybe I should take up smoking? :)

These aren't the articles I originally read, but they are ones I could find on Google.

I think the better term for this is:

    Western vs Easter MMO.

Unless you are arrogant of course.

A few years ago i would of said western mmo's are leading the way but now we have a lot of Asian western type mmo coming through. What i mean by Asian western is that some Asian devs are moving away from Tera type Asian mmo's with the way they look and should play.

You have my name sake http://www.mmoculture.com/2011/03/darkness-and-light-an-epic-mmo-in-the-making/

    http://www.mmoculture.com/2013/01/savage-horizon-rumored-to-be-officially-unveiled-next-week/

You also have Project S by ChangYou which sounds epic http://www.mmoculture.com/2012/12/project-s-changyou-teases-its-own-sandbox-mmorpg/

You also have ArcheAge which has a very western theme and appeal

You also have WolfKnight http://www.mmoculture.com/2013/05/wolfknights-imc-games-announces-new-3d-online-game/ which looks very western.

You also have Black Desert http://www.mmoculture.com/2013/03/black-deserts-developer-reveals-new-game-feature/

Even Age Of Wushu which is based on Chinese folk lore has a certain western appeal.

All of these are meant to be hybrid mmo's and not your typical themeparks.

Whether any of these will be any good, who knows but the west is not in a position to lay claim to releasing any good mmo's in the last few years or any mmo's that are particular better than those released in the west.

You have TESO coming which looks like just another themepark western mmo with nothing new.

Asian devs are thinking more outside the box imo.

My hope is that Smed takes me home with EQN, if any western mmo is going to change things it will be EQN and not the likes of Elder Scrolls Clones Wars.

I would include FInal Fantasy but Japanese games and the FF series in general is totally different from chines and korean games.

Asian companies don't seem to believe in customer service & support.  I find that that is by far the biggest difference between NA & Asian MMO's.  NCsoft somewhat has a better customer service department than most, but it is still lacking in many areas.  Literally the only NA company with bad customer support, that I have personally played,  is EA (SWTOR).

If anything the blame for poor support should go to the NA publisher for an Asian title not the company.  IMO mmo support in general is somewhat lack luster no matter what country it's hails from.

I find Asian titles smaller in download size, have smoother gameplay, innovative, way better combat animations. NA titles bugged out launches, huge budgets, mega hype, greedy pricing structures, good graphics, clunky combat animations and decent game content. NA titles seem to improve a year after launch where Asian titles level out or die here.

    SOE owned by Japanese

Activision owned by the French (Vivendi)

I guess that leaves EA as the main American MMO maker.

    Go USA!
