Misbehavin in an mmo...have you done it or seen it?

Slappy1Slappy1 Member Posts: 458

How many of you have just flat out taken crafting nodes from other's,pulled a train of mob's on someone, watched as someone was killing a mob by a chest and you decided to ninja the chest while they were busy?

I remember back when AC2 was launched (originally) and I was fighting a single mob and got some add's and was running for my toon's life. While running I accidentally pulled them into 2 character's that were set up in that area.I disrupted their play by accident, but one of them was hostile and was cussing me out for no reason. It was an accident.

Just wondering if other's have had incident's where this sort of thing happened?

Add to this,do you think people jumping the gun and assuming the worse is hurting mmo's in general?

Some day I'm going to put a sword through your eye and out the back of your skull!

You're assuming that player cared if it was an accident or not. If you get someone killed (or almost killed) accident or not they are generally not going to be happy with you.

I would also think you're better off asking if there's anyone who HASN'T seen someone misbehaving in an MMO, because it would be amazing to see someone who could honestly say yes (and has played an MMO for at least an hour).

He did care because it was reported and he was found to be wrong after the incident was discussed with gm.

What really got him in trouble and a few days ban was that he was cussing me out and they had it all in chat.

My best time on wow was when I was in a guild full of oldfags and we were the bad guys of our server on wow. We had more fun every day than I've ever had on another MMO. Not to mention we'd spam raid channels as a guild in SSC while other guild were in there just to screw with them. Good times. Generally, though, we never took it too far.

    Flashing back momentarily to EQ.

Remember when your in game reputation actually mattered. You couldn't do a name change.. or a server transfer. If you were an asshole or screwed someone over, you became an outcast. If you had a poor reputation, you were often guild-less and would struggle to find groups. That is exactly how it should be now, but its not.

I would love to see name changes in such a way that for 90days your old and new name were both visible, so that reputation once again mattered.

    Just because I'm a gamer doesn't mean I drive a Honda.

Being a gamer ofcourse I've done it but not all the time, I just admit that i am not a perfect gamer, but not in a way that a GM will banned me, but  i do a lot of trashtalking ahhaha which is for me it's too normal in the game.

I don't think I've ever done it once on purpose.  I have been banned for corspe camping on a few occasions though.  One reason I don't like PvP games, there's still rules on where and how you can PvP...

FFXI had some epic bastards. Beastmasters were notorious for releasing there controlled monsters in the middle of people experience camps. Thus the beastmaster would be responsible for killing the whole party.

A lot of people leveled in a specific section of an area called Yhutunga Jungle (or something like that). Sometimes people would agro a mob they didn't mean to and would have to go to a different zone to get rid of the mob. Once the player got rid of the mob it would have to backtrack to its original location, killing everyone it encountered on the way. Everyone who is leveling expects to see this so they set up two areas to level. If a monster is backtracking to its original location through one camp everyone runs to the other camp and vice versa. One time someone managed to bring a few mobs through both camps. EVERYONE died. There were like 40 deaths and bodies everywhere. This is mid game content, not end game.

  • Throughout my several mains and alternate characters on EQ, I normally started in Greater Faydark. My race didn't even matter, I just seemed to really like the zone so I would travel there to level 1 through ~15. All the constant training of orc from orc hill to the lift or the castle throne room to the zone line in Crushbone are some good memories.

The better days of MMORPGs imho. Challenging content where you wouldn't make a whole lot of progress without a cooperative party.
