Isn't Everquest 'Next' an oxymoron?

ZorgoZorgo Member UncommonPosts: 2,254

My wife pointed it out....

the word 'ever' implies there is no end.....so

Shouldn't be like Everquest Still, Everquest Continuing or Evequest Keeps On Chuggin?

    Petition to name change:

    Everquest keeps on Chuggin. EQKoC

"In the immediate future, we have this one, and then we’ve got another one that is actually going to be – so we’re going to have, what we want to do, is in January, what we’re targeting to do, this may or may not happen, so you can’t hold me to it. But what we’re targeting to do, is have a fun anniversary to the Ilum shenanigans that happened. An alien race might invade, and they might crash into Ilum and there might be some new activities that happen on the planet." ~Gabe Amatangelo

I would be all for Evequest Keeps On Chuggin if not for the acronym.

"Hey guys I am going to sit down and play some EverQuest KoC for a few hours.", is not something I ever want to say. image

The name could also refer to next part of the evergoing quest.

I think EQ 4 (the one after Everquest Next) should tell us more of the history of the quest and focus on some earlier part of it. It should be logically named Everquest Previous.

Maybe rename it Everquest One because being an MMO it will want you to be online too and technically your not allowed to resell your account.

    Haha, very good point!

Lets just hope the "moronic" nature of the name doesn't carry over into the actual game, but one does wonder....YUREKA! Everwonder should be the new name!

The game Everquest is not the same as "ever quest".  Everquest is a proper noun.  Have your wife check her math.

I would be fine with Everquest 3, but they probably want a name that will stand out and just calling it 3 is not suficient.

Of course, EQ KoC stands out but for different reasons.
