Beta Weekend Schedule..... WTF

in Final Fantasy XIV

Why in the name of all that is Holy are SE doing the beta weekends from 9am GMT Fridays to 9am GMT Sundays. This makes no sense. It makes even less sense if you are in the USA. 2am Friday to 2am Sunday. 

I played several hours Friday night, was busy all day Saturday, then was looking forward to playing again thisafernoon for a few hours and it has ended. 

Is there some sensible reason why they are doing this?

    They're scheduling it around the Japanese audience. Beta tests should start going through the week soon.

    They are located in Japan, and as a result work according to the movement of the sun in the sky in Japan and not London or the USA.

    Ahhhhh OK, didnt take that into account at all. At least there is a good reason for it!

    while I agree with you, this has been all the rage lately with developers.

    Unless you're paying for access to the beta, betas exist for the benefit of the company, not for the benefit of the players.  Now, if the weekly schedule after release is that the game is only up from 2 am Friday until 2 am Sunday every week, then I'll be concerned.

    Gotcha, so likely beginning of august and will go on till a week or so before release?
