I see easter eggs in almost every game I play. Even 'serious' games like eve has references to pop culture and others like wow and gw2 like to break thr 4th wall. It looks as if they are trying to promote their latest installment of final fantasy 13. I'm sure the fans will like it the rest of us can ignore it like we do whenever we come across this stuff.

I can't wrap my head around why they would include a character from a completely different universe in an MMO based on a world all it's own. I understand fan service which is what the Moogles, Behemoths, and the rest of the bestiary is for, but forcing a character from a stand-alone RPG into an MMO is just silly. Perhaps a nod to one of the characters in a very subtle way would be fine, but having the character make an appearance is really pushing it IMO.

I don't particularly care for the storyline in an MMO one way or the other, but I'm curious to know what people who do enjoy storylines in MMO's think about this. I feel like they'll justify the presence of the character with some awful cliche i.e. time travel, parallel universe, rip in space-time etc. For a franchise heavily steeped in storytelling, I don't know why they would do this. Does this level of fan service appeal to people?

I can't help but ask, "What's next?" Will we eventually see Cloud, Tidus, Sepheroth, and Kefka play a game of Blitzball or something?

I dont know how old you are or how far back ur gaming goes but this isnt the first time this had happened in final fantasy series...they did it with final fantasy tactics by having cloud and aeris in. im sure people on here can name even more times it has happened.

My opinion on the subject - I like it and I dont like it. When i play a new final fantasy I want a unique experience. I want to meet new characters like from the past games (ex cloud, squall, tifa). Final fantasy 14 is final fantasy. I want the same experience I would get from playing the other ones except with an online feeling. The epic  of final fantasy series with the elements of a mmorpg equals greatness (on paper).

OP you said u dont enjoy storylines in mmorpgs...me either. Lets hope this game lives up to the name of final fantasy and not  ''Wow Clone""

Either way - it's still FINAL FANTASY, as a brand - they can move things from universe to universe, that's what other brands usually do, it's an ode to another game. There are tons of other games that do it too.

So adding  flying cars from the Jetsons would be ok?

I'm not sure why you think I'm upset as I didn't get all ragey in my post, but okay. It seems a bit tacky to me to take an entire character from one game and incorporate it into another. There are tasteful ways to go about paying homage to another game. I don't think this is a good way to do it. It adds to the game, but I personally think it will detract from the storyline.

your post did come across as ragey actually.
