So after 24 Pugilist and 18 Thaum I decide to go do something different, Glad to 15 and suddenly I hit a small wall of no quests.
Leves are granted 3/12h or 6/day and they stack for time you can't play/login. It seems it would be best not to use leves at all on characters the first time through and only use some for company leves for chocobo license at 20(ish) and keep leves for lower characters.
Also it seems that if you want most all the jobs (like me) then you will be better off with their higher subscriber level (Normal sub fees) for the additional character slots, additional leves for those char slots daily and additional quests starting out at lower levels (then you would only have to grind out different classes for the addiitonal bonus abilities you can borrow).
What are your thoughts on this? I thought about levelling alt jobs on the 1 char through crafting and gathering but any gathering xp ios awared to the gatherer class and same for the crafter classes.
Do they need more quests? Or is it fine and people need to grind it out/optimize their leve up time?

OP, you're focusing way too much on one form of leveling.
In general, you do not want to do leves AT ALL for your battlecrafts. Do as many quests as you can for your primary job, but if you run out leves are NOT the only alternative. I'd suggest either:
A) Running dungeons (great exp, gil earnage, and good drops)
EXP Chain parties (basically just grinding higher lvl mobs, just like back in the oldschool days. It might not seem all that exciting, but if you keep the kills up the amount of EXP you get overtime is stellar. You just need to find a good spot w/ HIGHER lvl mobs, that spawn at a decent rate)
C) FATE parties. Running around a zone, picking up party members as you go, and just hopping from FATE-to-FATE earns a TON of exp, gil, and (when you've gotten far enough in the story) seals. There are indeed a few odd lvls where this is the prefered lvling method.
Also don't forget guildleves.
True there is a lot of varied content though the Guildhests only give you good xp for the first time you do them.
Dungeons give great xp it is true, and you can get high chains in here too if your group is smart.
XP grinding groups I expect to see more of during end or beginning of month 2, in beta I saw none of it but loved it in FFXI.
FATE's depending on the zone can be good or bad. I Think the best fate events are going to be when you hit drybone etc.
For Leves IF YOU WANT YOUR CHOCOBO SOONER THAN LATER you need to save your leves and do your company leves at the company leve vendor (I would only do the leves that open the guildhests) as seals are going to be only obtained through these leves and NOT FATE events.

grind groups dont work in this game sadly. The dev purposely came out and said they dont want that kind of leveling to exist cause the mobs are designed to be "trash mobs" and they want you to do quests and fates (though after a few classes leves/quests run out)
I love how they say they are adding in all these ways of leveling to add "options" yet the way i like to do it, how i did it in EQ/FFXI/FFXIV 1.0, is being taken out for the LOLs of it.
