"Cost kicked to serious players so we can have 6 million registered accounts and use it as 'proof' of the games greatness. "
That's not why games go F2P, F2P gives studios a larger player base and in turn that larger player base paves the way for more people to pay for their hobby. As long as the game are designed with triple-A quality then everyone wins.
Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!
Subscription Gaming, especially MMO gaming is a Cash grab bigger then the most P2W cash shop!
Bring Back Exploration and lengthy progression times. RPG's have always been about the Journey not the destination!!!
Originally posted by TheScavenger Here in Australia (I'm staying here temporarily, for this year)...I actually had to pay what came out to be 43 AU dollars, because Age of Conan took up all the bandwidth from its huge download+updates I had to do. Not sure what that comes out in USD, but that was quite a lot of money for a "free" game.
You don't get unlimited bandwidth in Australia? That's pretty rough... it's pretty standard here in the states.
Actually there are a whole lot of ISPs with unlimited download plans in Australia, they cost more but they are there. TheScavenger seems to be on a plan either directly from TELSTRA (BigPond) or from someone reselling Telstra product. Oh and it comes out at about US$38 at the moment, six months ago that would have been about US$50 but the exchange rate got hit by hedge fund manipulation.
