Seige Mechanics detailed

Muerte_XMuerte_X Member Posts: 104

Hey all, Just saw this up on repop's sight detailing siege mechanics: http://www.therepopulation.com/index.php/news/109-siege-overview

Looks relatively standard for a game with sieges, but with longer timers for protection post siege (7 days), and 2-3 days before siege goes live. This should help out less PvP inclined players with cities.

Undecided until I see it in action, but leaning towards "too complicated for its own good" so far.

Siege system could be interesting...they are definently taking a chance as pvpers tend to not give many chances.  I hope it works out well.  I didn't watch the interview with kayetta...however I can't believe they would put her in a pvp conversation...she's a total carebear.  When I was more involved with the community, this chick did nothing but try to sway the devs to change things from a pvp mindset to a pve mindset, even saying she didn't want a pvp server as it could hurt the numbers on the pve server.  In the end, there was a group of 10 or so of us that actually left the community and game as the community was just so care bear and that's all the devs have had to listen to.  At this point however, I do believe that the lead dev is still sticking to his guns about a hardcore pvp server...but still...total joke to see this chick talking about pvp.

I believe you are thinking of Trixie, not Kayletta.

He might be meshing us together. Regardless, I nearly choked to death laughing when I read this. Thanks for making my day Balin ^_^

Trixie is a carebear as well....to the point she was upset and made a comment to me about a post that there was totally nothing wrong with, but I sent her comment to Josh and he even said she had overstepped our boundries and this game surely does target both groups.  So yes...she's a care bear, but you are to the extreme as you advertise that you aren't a carebear, yet every pvp idea discussed in the forums you want to turn into unicorn love.  (Not really, but you pretending to be a pvper is hilarious.)  Literally looking in the beta forums at a post you made early on responding to one of mine where I basically called you out about how you want a pve game with pvp on the side and finally you shut up.  Obviously I can't post because of NDA...but don't pretend...

Really not  bashing you, just being real...

Yep, unicorn love, that's me. That's why I worked on the siege system and on the hardcore ruleset and I'm planning to roll entirely on hardcore. image You make me giggle so much.

Kayletta Jade will slice you in half on the hardcore server! Trixie will craft you some good cookies!

Theres always groups and entities influencing the developers of any game at any given time. Carebears want to be safe, PVPers want to be free.

I do however prefer to see what Repop has to offer in-game not just in promises before making decisions.

Though to be honest, the lack of experience and understanding of what makes a real sandbox tick as well as EVE is an ongoing and growing concern.

Time will tell ultimately, give it a year and everything will be known. I'll give Repop a chance, if it works out great if not there's always other games.

Very well written good sir. I have the same feelings, as the devs have played a little more themepark and not enough eve.

Don't get me wrong here, as I do not want The Repopulation to be EVE, but use what makes EVE one of the greatest pvp sandboxes of all time and build on that for what is The Repopulation.

I think you are getting them mixed up, Balin. Kayletta usually references her days in Shadowbane as guidance for her thinking on Repop's PvP, and I would call SB anything but a carebear game. From all the posts I've seen, she's a fan of the PvP elements over the carebear side, but seems to understand the need for both for a successful MMO.

This game will not be a new DF Sir Balin, but a balance that will hopefully get more players to enjoy PvP by easing them with the themeparky elements. See you in DFUW.
