Player creations in EQN (not EQN Landmark) - Instanced?

LorskaLorska Member UncommonPosts: 74

My understanding is that EQN Landmark will be essentially a true sandbox playpen with players getting dev-like tools to create whatever they want, sort of like 'creative mode' in Minecraft, but that in the main game you will actually have to acquire land and resources through gameplay. Alternatively, you will be able to import certain things from Landmark into the main game. I read all this from the pcgamer.com article here: http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/08/02/everquest-next-landmark-announced/

“[Landmark is] kind of practice mode for EverQuest Next, because when you get to EverQuest Next you’ll actually have to earn your land,” said Georgeson. “You’ll have to fulfill quests and stuff like that to get a land grant from the equivalent of a duke or baron, and then you can start building on that. And a lot of the stuff you create in Landmark might be able to be brought over, as long as it fits the art direction.”

What I couldn't get nailed down yet is how those player-made creations will be situated in the main EQN game. I'm very much hoping that it won't all be instanced and that these land parcels you can acquire will be in the main game overworld. If anyone finds any info to confirm or deny this, I would love to hear it.

I have no proof but I highly suspect that they will distribute lots around the world suitable for housing, and you pay for one then can construct a pre-fab dwelling on it imported from Landmark (once you obtain resources and recipes, etc.)

I doubt you'll be able to free-form in EQ:N proper because of the "giant dong" phenomenon, yet instancing is soooo 2004.  If ArcheAge can implement the above system, I dont' see why EQN can't.

Pre-determined plot of land. That's how Vanguard worked and most MMOs do the none-instancing housing now. Let say that nobody want SWG empty town in the desert syndrome.

I'm so sure that a game bigger than Everquest 1 & 2 combined have enough "plot of lands" for everyone on a servers.

Either way I think the game is screwed honestly.  They are giving people to much freedom (I know it doesn't sound bad but it will be).  If it's not instanced we'll end up with things like mcdonalds or starbucks and if it is well it's instanced which kind of defeats the purpose of being able to "craft" the world.

Also I have a feeling a lot of it will be coming from the cash shop so if it's destructable there will be tons of rage.

Oh, that's a new quote to me.  Well we do know that structures (or at least their designs) can be sold through the Player Studio.  That would be one vector from EQNL to EQN.   And that would mean there is (as you would expect) a method for recording structure designs.

I doubt there will ever be an 'unfiltered' path from EQNL to EQN.  Too many players would take the opportunity to display there urological (andrological?  GUY-nocological?) creativity

    Check my suggestion.

They are not going to let you free-form design your house in EQ:N, you'll only be able to choose from pre-made, approved, floor plans imported from Landmark.

Landmark will have all the McDonalds, but they won't get past Content Control to the main game.

I wonder if you will be able to use your own Landmark creation for free, or if you have to pay through the cash shop to get your own housing design in EQN.

Seems like if you are the creator, you should get them free if they pass quality control.

According with the devs videos interviews... No, is not instanced, and yes, it will be for free. Actually NPC's will be able to attack your building and you have to protect them.

I'd be surprised if they let you import your stuff from Landmark to EQN for free.

It seems like one of the ways they would rake in a lot of cash is by getting people hooked on Landmark and attached to their items, then for low, low price of $9.99 allow you to move that stuff over to the main game if approved by customer service.

Anyone have a source for this? Or anything definitive about player structures in the main game being non-instanced?
