Anyone else worried about EQ Next?

The game sounds incredible.  The concepts totally blow my mind.  But there are just so many "unknowns" right now.

Not that it's "unknown" to US, but it appears it's still "unknown" to the developers making the game as well!!!

So many wonderful ideas, but that's exactly what it appears to me, simply IDEAS at this point.  Pulling it all off is an entirely different story.

I know they are using the excuse of polls to give the communities a chance to help them make the right decisions.  And while that is good, it's worrisome at the same time.  Shouldn't they ALREADY know what they are going to do, especially when it comes to design decisions?

I get the impression that nothing has been actually tested at this point.  The emergent AI.  That's a big hopeful wish.  But in actual practice I worry that it will be a gigantic mess.  And their unsure answers when asked about examples leads me to believe that while it might be in development right now, it's still just a pipedream for the time being.

I just do not get the impression that everyone is on the same page with what the game is supposed to be exactly.  It's almost like they all just got out of a board meeting where they were given the same powerpoint presentation that we were given, and were "sold" on the ideas.  But they have nothing to actually show for it, and of course cannot explain it in detail because they simply, do NOT know.

If they can pull it all off the way they are pitching it though, and it's balanced, and fun, and we can fill in all the unknowns with out own imaginary ideas (all we can do at this point because apparently nobody knows), then yes they will have one of the greatest games of all time on their hands.

It appears as if they're trying to appeal to many different groups, especially with the "cool" parkour in this video vaulting over obstacles. They most likely have a huge feature list of various thing that they'd like to get in. Like if you look at crafting, apparently it's as good as SWG or better. I think that's what they hope, but atm it's probably just an idea.

Looks like the only thing that has been really tested is the building and environment destruction. The combat from the videos looked off and the hordes of mobs weren't activated, no AI. For me, it appears like they've developed the tools to build and destroy their world, now they really need to focus on developing the various features that will make or break the game. They may have a huge list here, and they may have to cut down on certain things.

I would just keep thinking about what ideas they are talking about.  Like the 4 holy grails.  If they are talking about it, then they know they have to deliver on it or they wouldnt say anything on it.

They would not have announced anything at SOE Live if they were still in the "brainstorming" phase of the project.

I hate to use SWTOR because so many people hate the game.  But SWTOR kept speaking about Story, Story, Story.

Well the one thing they did have and did well was have stories in their MMO.

I would also like to add that we do not know what version of the game we saw.  It seems to me that all the gaming sites were shown the same stuff  a month ago.  The puts this content at least a few months old.  Who knows what systems they have in place.
